Now heres my question does Curse Client automatically update addons when you launch the program? I can't figure it out since nothing ever gets shaded it just says processing add ons. Cause when i choose an addon and click check update its silent and nothing seems to happen. And till this day i have never seen a marker that says an update needs to be updated.
The client will automatically update addons on launch if you have a premium subscription and have the "auto install updates" option enabled. Otherwise, on launch it should check for updates to the addons it's managing, and put a green icon next to them that looks a bit like the "refresh" button in some browsers, or like the standard "recycle" icon. If you have a premium subscription, you can select all of these (either click the top one and ctrl-click the bottom one, or drag a selection rectangle over them) and click the "Update" button. If you do not have a premium account, click one of the addons and click the "Update" button. Note that the "Update Addons" entry in the program's menu does absolutely nothing, premium account or not. Also note that updates are only available through the client when an author tags a release version. Alpha and beta versions, even if the author has enabled packaging on them, will not trigger an "update available" in the Client.
question is, if I set it to use beta versions, and say for example, the newest version of an addon is a "release" version, will it install the latest "beta" or will it install the "release" which is newer?
Changelog is nice, but its one session only! could it atleast save simple txt files in a log folder inside the client? perhaps even give me the option to view these logs from inside the client also. The option to select beta/alpha/release is nice, but come on curse, where the hell is the checkbox for wotlk compatibility?? you clearly know my game version why in the hell would you install beta updates for Wotlk when you know I don't have it... this would be on the website side I think... Point is, I want beta for BC not wotlk and your client borked my addons...
Beta selection, awesome. Now all that's left is nolib *crosses fingers for it before Tuesday.* And of course the bugs server side with packaging and whatnot, but I'm sure clothing is being rent over those.
Can anyone tell me if the Curse Client is a "smart" program, that means it only updates those files that need to be updated or is it a stupid program like Ace Updater and just downloads the addons from curse and brute force unzips them over all existing files?
I use to modify some addons to my needs and I need to do this everytime the addon updates, so I'm looking for a smart updater... I don't wanna use the svn directly because it kinda sucks without an index.
why does the client keep trying to install this curse database mining addon thing? I don't want to use it, I support Wowhead in that area and use the wowhead dataminer, I don't need another, nor want the curse one installed..
ok - since 220.127.116.11 curse does seem to detect my addons and does scan them. However i found a few releases that didn't work.
althoholic is flagged 3.02 by the author, but the curse client happily installs it. Pitbull is going havoc.
So i decided to install an older revision. On the download pages i am presented with a 'manual' install and a CC download. Took me 10 unsuccessfull tries to realize the CC client won't install the revision i seleted, but simply choose the newest (not working revision).
I am sorry, if i have selected a specific revision on the download page, i do expecte CC to downlad that revision and not one it thinks might suit me.
It seems that some addon had their curse name ( or URL ) changed in the last days ( duplicate removed and thing like that).
In CC you end up with an addon who is never updated and you have no visual clue about it.
Could you display in red the addon that are no longer on curse, so we can change them to whatever new name they use ?
Edit : and avoid setting the CC to download beta today, some addon beta only works in 3.0.2 it seems.
I gather from attempting to use the curse client that it has no support whatsoever for proxies? Looks like I'll be manually updating all addons then as up till now I had been using jwowupdater to update my ace addons as it works on an authenticated proxy.
