Jwow updater is pretty cool, I just updated my addons with it, but I have a question: the default source for updates, is that WoWace? as in, the old files.wowace directory, which is no longer updated?
and if that's the case, in order to update properly I need to manually set the ID's etc for the relative addons on curseforge now?

Exactly, on both fronts. You'll have to go through all the old Ace addons and set them to ignore in the updater first, though. Then you'll be able to set their Curse ID.

are all of the libs on curse now? i'm using dis-embedded libs, so natrually I would need to manually add those aswell, using the ID from curse?

Where do i find the Curse ID of an addon or the ID of an Addon listet at WoWI?!

couldn't be the Curse ID assigned in some way automatically? :D
With all the changes lately, and the announced demise of WAU, what becomes of JWowUpdater?
When the 3.0 patch hits next week, and all our addons go out of date, will JWowUpdater be able to get the next generation, or will we all have to pay Curse to continue as before?
All that questions were already answered in this thread.
jWowUpdater won't be able to update from WowAce again, just like WAU. But since jWowUpdate can update from Curse, you can use it that way.

The main question was not answered at all. If the updates are premium only, the rest of us are stuck. It doesn't matter if an updater can download from Curse, if the updates aren't available without a paid account. In that case, no, nothing other that curse client will work.

Premium gives you the big "DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING" button.
Non-premium allows downloads on an addon-per-addon basis.

No, because the "Curse ID" is not necessarily the same as the addon's name. For example, there's no way the program could guess that the addon "Omen" was identified on Curse as "omen-threat-meter".
There is no longer a readily available index file for JWU to parse, as there was for files.wowace.com.
If we change jwow over to the new curse setup will it continue to use disembedded libs? So far I am really not liking the new CC (the wowaceupdater should have been the minimal benchmark in functionality, feel, ease of use etc for the new CC)
I am happy to announce that i found some time during the weekend to work on JWU2. But instead of releasing JWU2 i decided to move the new updater core into JWU, and then do a release of JWU.
What this means is:
JWU sports a super tuned new updater core.
JWU now supports updating again from all your favorite sites :)
This also means that the new layout that was planned for JWU2 has been postponed, but might find its way into JWU at some point.
JWU now handles all addons as it earlier handled non wow ace addons. This means you will have to add all your addons to the list of handled addons. However, this process has been simplified, since you just copy & paste the url of the addons page on one of the supported addon sites.

Woohoo! - and right in time for the big WotLK pre-patch upgrade party/hell.
I tried it out and it seems to work very well. I guess having to find your addons once on the web and then add them is better than having to manually click update on them every single time they have to be updated.
Now the fun comes with finding a way to sort which version to download from Curse? Or do you just artificially strip the libs for nolib support, provided the user has locations set up for all needed libs, too?

Atm JWU uses the most simple form of downloading the "latest version", it gets the file with the latest date.
And there are currently no support for the old "no externals" version of addons, as this isnt something all the sites have.

I don't know if all of the libs are there yet or not; but you would do the same thing, yes.

It isn't. The author is going to begin work on JWU2 as soon as real life permits.

Supported addons sites as of right now:
wowace.com
wowinterface.com
curse.com
curseforge.com
Enjoy everyone.
