I have been having a problem with JWU. When I update my addons, all from WoWAce, I find that it is dumping the directories into the addon folders. For example Pitbull, if you look at the zip file you will see that there are many sub-directories. Normally when you unarchive it, the directory structure will be the same. When I use JWU, everything is dumped into the addon directory. Forcing me to pull the files manually.
Edit: Ok, I should be more clear. I don't want it to the sub-directories pulled out so they act like individual addons. For something like pitbull, I want all pitbull sub-directories to remain inside Pitbull. JWU isn't set to split the addons. No externals is unchecked. Even with a fresh install of JWU I'm finding the same result. I hope this makes the situation slightly more clear.
What are you talking about? If you look at the PitBull zip you have one top-level folder named PitBull. Inside that, yes, there are many subdirectories for each module. Yes, you can pull each module out of the addon folder to run as a separate addon. Or, you can just leave them inside the PitBull folder and they'll run as parts of the same addon. If you want JWU to pull them out into separate addons, you must enable the option in JWU to do so.
As all those subfolders are no externals (only those in the "lib" folder are) it has nothing to do wiht the no-ext option.
You have to disable "Split addons with present filelist.wau" as this let's the updater pull out all modules.
Just wanted to say that this runs flawless on Linux!
I do wish that the client would ask me before trying to resolve other addons than the ones listed as in need of updating, I find it frustrating that it tries to decide for me.
Even though, thanks, you made the best client, especially. the search is extremely fast!
What do you mean "resolve" ? JWU was written primarily to update from files.wowace.com, and expects that anything it finds on your system with a name that exactly matches the name of something on files.wowace.com, is the same. If that's not what you meant, I'm not sure what you DID mean...
The search is fast because it's a local search on cached data. It's basically like using "Find" in Notepad.
I opened up jWowUpdater today (27/9/08) and it was unable to find my addon's that I had it set to download from curse. So I went and visited a few of these addon's and noticed that the addon ID number (the one you entered for jWowUpdater to download none ace addon's) had changed from numbers to the name of the addon ie. Armoury had changed from 10061 to armory.
I did a quick read in a couple of the other thread in this forum relating the wowace and curse merging or some such and got the impression that jWowUpdater (and other updaters) will no longer be able to download updates from curse.
Is this the case now or will a new version be released that can continue to download updates from curse (at least for the immediate future)?

I have the same issue. None of my addons from the Curse website are able to update.
The Curse website was just revamped, and now uses the "short name" keyword from the CurseForge project management instead of an arbitrary number to identify addons. I'm sure Rolf will update JWU to work with the new site soon.
Cheers just changed those addon's that jWowUpdater would get from curse over to the new ID system and the two addon's that had been update have been downloaded. Thanks for the quick update.
Rofl, do we have to manually add all the wowace addons to the non-wowace list as curse addons now?
Or are you compiling a list for WA addons convertion to Curse SourceForge project names?
Please correct me if I've missunderstood anything about how the WA svn site shutdown is effecting updaters/downloads.
and the new id to set in jwu would be: quest-helper
Hope it works for everyone.

Working great!
Suggestion:rolleyes:: Would it be possible to accept the URL as input and have jwu parse the relative parts out, so that we lazy users don't have to do it manually?
So, now with the recent merge between wowace and curse, which direction will this updater be taking? The SVN seems to be going down within a couple of days, and no updates are coming in. Dev comment?
(Seems since i already had a curse account, i cant register rolfba with my email, as thats already registered to Gof, from curse. Ohh well)
I am in the process of making JWU2, which will be a replacement for JWU, all the details are not yet set.
Unfortunately i started on my Masters Thesis 2 weeks ago, so there isnt much time for JWU2 atm. I am hoping on having at least a beta version out by the time WOTLK is released, but im making no promises. Thesis comes first :)

i'm using the "delete before updating" option which works - but the deletions are not being sent to the recycle bin.
everything else works like a charm though! i download without externals (i have separate lib folders), unpack addons, etc.
any idea how come the deleted addons aren't being sent to the recycle bin? thanks :)
Because java dosent support operating system recycle bins, so its just being deleted.

found this out the hard way when deleting an addon that had a symlink to all of my music in an addon directory...say goodbye to 80gigs of music :(
on a side note, I didn't read all of the posts in the thread but I hope the planned WowAce.com changes don't nerf JWU for too long!

1.100:
- Fixed updating from CURSE, as they had changed their layout
Updating from Curse should be working again, but all your id's will have to be changed for the new shortnames.
As an example:
Questhelper used to be ID, 9924, from curse, but now the url for Questhelper looks like:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/quest-helper.aspx
and the new id to set in jwu would be: quest-helper
Hope it works for everyone.
