So far i've tried every possible updater i could find and it still will not let me update my addons.
Curse Client : accidentally clicked the "premium" option once & saved. Saw the error & reverted. Client sais still premium login
Curse Client : every addon > unidentified > does not propose best match
Curse Client : Refuses to load addon list
Curse Client : Interferes with my internet connection. When trying to update. Webpages no longer load, MSN 9 gets disconnected, ... Exit client fixes it.
Curse Client : Just doesnt update
Waddu : nothing but "invalid uri" messages & consorts
WoWus : finds only like 6-7 out of the 138 i'm running, failes to download/update every single one.
I'm using 64bit Vista Ultimate. And with wowmatrix being killed by curse & wowinterface & more. Its impossible to update my addons. gg manually browsing for 130+ addons every few days / week.
Which version of the Curse Client are you using? I'm not experiencing any system or network problems while updating. (I'm also using Vista Ultimate x64.)
To help with your problem with unidentifiable addons, the easiest thing for you to do is make a list of all your addons. Then rename your Addons folder and make a new empty one. After that you can just install your addons from scratch using the Curse Client. If there are some you can't find hosted on Curse, you can either copy those out of your renamed folder, or download new updated copies from another hosting site.
This sounds like a pain, but I did the same thing myself with over 100 addons and it took less than 15 minutes. (A lot of them were disembedded libraries that the Client installed automatically for me, and several were old versions of libraries that I actually didn't need anymore.)
Edit: If you prefer a text file for your addon list, and your WoW is in the default installation folder for Vista, you can click the Start menu, and in the Start Search box, type cmd to open a command prompt. The following command will give you a list:
dir "C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns" /A:D /b > "C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\AddonList.txt"
If you were using WowMatrix before, this may be why CC doesn't recognize your addons. WM will edit addons to update TOC numbers (and do some other stuff of their choosing......) and adds a wowmatrix.dat file to the addon folder. CC sees that your addon doesn't match those it has, so it marks them as unidentified (instead of overwriting something you don't want it to or accidentally giving you the wrong addon).
Its impossible to update my addons. gg manually browsing for 130+ addons every few days / week.
While you should be able to get the Curse Client working with the help of others who are successfully using it, I just want to mention that you do not need to manually browse for addons and check individual pages for updates. Register on Curse.com and/or WoWInterface.com. Find each addon you use, and mark it as a Favorite. Then, you can either enable the option to receive an e-mail message when one of your Favorites is updated (usually with a link to directly download the newest file), or you can just check your Favorites page once a week to see what's been updated.
My addons folder currently contains 267 items (probably around 200-225 actual addons or libraries, since many addons have modules split out into separate folders) and I spend 5-10 minutes each day when I get home from work grabbing new addon versions. Realistically you don't need to update every day, so spending 10-15 minutes once a week updating addons is hardly "gg". :p
i was indeed using matrix but i had done some research and deleted the .dat files. Still refused to update but adding them one by one, refreshing unidentified ones it "recognised" them and i was able to reinstall most of them or download via the client. Now all that remains is to have some mods getting an update. I wonder if the "premium" setting for auto update will work when not being a premium member :p.
Anyway ill keep you guys posted. Thx for the help so far. But so far, CC is operational, awaiting mod updates :p
one more question though. Does anyone know an easy utility to modify the ##Interface numbers in the toc file. With swapping to CC, alot of .toc's became "out of date" even though they work perfectly. I know i can manually change them but gg again, lots of mods. And i hate that tickbox "load out of date addons". I much more like them just being up to date "wowtoc" i used a long time ago is discontinued ages ago.

Don't do this. Ever. Interface version numbers in the TOC exist for a reason. The "Load out of date addons" checkbox exists for a reason. Just use it.
If you modify the addons' TOC files, you run the risk of CC not recognizing the addons again. Why would one want to modify a large number of files when one could simply check one box in the game?
well i dont use these forums much, couldnt hurt to ask :), ill stick with the checkbox, now that i've found an updater that possible can update them again without missing versions, i aint riskin that. I'll keep ya posted.

Just remember that because an addon is listed as "Out of Date" dosn't mean that it won't work. Alot of very simple addons don't need to be updated. Other times the author as already fixed it for the new patch, just didn't update the interface number.

You need to understand why that's such a bad idea.

The Interface or "TOC" number is used by authors to say "my code is for this patch".
IMHO it should only be used by authors after they have confirmed that they have updated their code for the changes in lua brought by the patch they are changing their toc number to.
Some addons will work without any changes to their code as the calls in the API they work with have not changed. This does not mean they should have their toc number automatically changed for them.
It also serves as an important diagnostic step - it shows you on the addon screen what addons have or have not had their code updated for the current patch. You turn "load out of date addons" off and all the addons that probably haven't had code updated for the current patch all get turned off. You then load into game and see if you having the same problems.
That's the reason why you have the "load of date addons" option.

As you an see it's something that only the addon authors should be changing :D

Never fails, each and every patch. Someone always asks... ^.^

If you're talking about the Curse Client, click the refresh button.
Everything under that tab is greyed out. Cannot click anything, no right click menu, NOTHING.
