The curse client just isn't as good as the WAU app. I understand the reason why wowace services had to shut their doors and I'm probably the billionth person to come on these forums and complain about this... but is there a better updater available than the Curse Client and one that doesn't parse html to find updates?
Oh I should?!?... I will admit.. I didn't read EVERY SINGLE THREAD to answer my question. I will admit that after visiting here every day since 3.0.2 update to see if any progress of a good updater would come about, and reading thread after thread of how bad the Curse client... I got lazy and decided to post my own thread.
Is there like a penalty or fine that I have pay now for being lazy?

The answer to your question is no.
CC is not bad. It's humming along just fine for me. I put in the work to get it setup right, and everything is working well.
In fact: there are a few things about it that I actually prefer over WAU. What? Did I just say that? Yes I did.
The client isn't working very well after trying it out since patch day. I had 2 addons that the client keep asking about which author version do I want to install. The addons were already instead using client to install it.
Further.. it doesn't scan the addon directory very well to find new addons that were added outside the client.
Just very annoyed with the client being that the WAU worked sooo much better.

Hey, ya know, go ahead and read all the posts here....covering every angle. If you had read, you would have found ONE thread with someone talking about making an updater. But, like you said, you read everything...
Where is flarecde when you need him??
Edit: I have the same problem you do, I have been manually updating 256 mods.I'm waiting for the next version of CC.
Well I've read that the Java updater closed it doors. I checked out WUU but that update looks like it parses HTML to find updates so that means that when the addon site changes their html code the app will break.
I've looked wowmatrix but read up on numerous forums that wowmatrix is being blocked and doesn't always have updated addons.
I've look at iUpdate pre alpha... but thats pre alpha and not sure how the guy is getting his updates.
I've read forums over at curse.com and curseforge.com. I've read forums over at wowinterface.com and forums.worldofwarcraft.com.
So ya.. I'm feeling a little lazy today..and decieded to post my question without doing an exhaustive search of the site(wowace.com).

best thing to do, backup your WTF/Interface folders. Then Delete them. Login to the game, log out. Then install ( read reInstall properly) the CC. You then use the curseclient to install your addons from curse.
it won't nessisarily pick up on addons added independantly and in my case i prefer it dosn't.
Ya I did read that in these forums and follow those steps. Thats how I got the client to finally work. But if changes were made outside client...(IE if I removed an addon manually). Then client still thinks the addon is there.
for addons managed by the client - use the client to uninstall them. It was a design choice that the CC not interace to teriably much with the file system directly in this regard. ( They did state that, that idea might not have been the best)
Yup. Just get in the habit of using the client to install and uninstall everything. It does seem buggy when uninstalling, sometimes it doesn't delete any of the files. So double check them. Also it's pretty easy to override the client with a build you know works -- for example Pitbull today updated to a beta that completely broke, so I manually overwrote it with an older stable release, and the client doesn't even know. That works just fine for me.

Where's the love for WUU?
It doesn't meet your criteria of not parsing html, but without a special site designed to be downloaded from that way, none of them will. WUU I have found to be the best updater, even when WAU was still active. WAU and CurseClient are lacking in the fact that they only grab from a single source (CC from curse, and WAU from wowace) WUU will grab addons from every major addon site, and you can even write custom rules to have it download from anywhere not supported. Not to mention the fact that WUU runs on Windows, OS X, and Linux!
I know all my posts lately are schilling for WUU, but I can't believe no one is suggesting it, especially with all the CC drama going on.
