With all the changes over the last however long, im curious what other linux users might be using to update their addons.
ive tried getting Curse Client to run under wine to no avail and after trying several different things im just getting frustrated at my options.
I was hoping that maybe someone else on a *nix system could share what they are doing to deal with addon updating.
it would certainly be nice if they did, but unfortunately, linux doesnt seem to get much love, hehe
anyone have any suggestions in the meantime?
The curse client runs on the latest version of WINE on Arch. I get an exception error just after logging in, but I can ignore it and keep going. It seems to do ok. YMMV.
yeah, when i first started trying to use CC i was unable to use a lot of the right-click options from the icon in the systray, specifically update or install mods and the like
ill test it out again and see if its any better now when i get a chance
currently with the way things are going, im very much considering abandoning a lot of mods and going very minimalistic, im having trouble getting good fps :(
edit: im running wine 1.1.6 on 32-bit Ubuntu (but there has been at least 1 wine update since i tested CC)

Are you using -opengl in the launcher command?
What WM are you using? I'll usually switch off of GNOME to Fluxbox or Openbox for WoW sessions, especially when I'm raiding. I have some of the graphics settings turned down slightly, and I'm seeing frame rates as good as I did in Windows.

im not using -opengl in the launcher command but i do have "SET gxApi "opengl"" in the config.wtf file
the launcher text is
the shortcut im using is the one on the desktop wine created on install
as for WM, im using gnome currently
ill give fluxbox or something more lightweight a try and see if it helps
im guessing that it has more to do with the hardware on this pc as im getting fps of less than 10 regularly and im kind of doubting addons are causing that, heh
anyone have any ideas on updaters? ive kinda hijacked my own thread hehe

The most suggested solution is to use JWowUpdater and point it at the addons as if they were non-Ace addons.
I've got CC working in WINE. If 64-bit installs are having problems, I suggest running it from a command line and see where it's failing. Sometimes it's as simple as a missing 32-bit library.
