I'm going to miss that list of zips, it was the greatest download method.
Who wants to show me how to delete stuff from the SVN now.
I know things are changing and not everyone will be happy with everything. Mind if I ask whats up though? We're open to as much feedback as we can get :)
Blizzard announced WotLK for the fiscal year 2008. My wild guess is late Novemeber/start of December.
Looking at the Beta I dont really think it should get release that early, but with WAR getting released and lots of the WoW players being eager to find a new MMORPG that isnt as "bad" as WoW I think the bean counter division will push them to release it to early.
And besides Bugfixing and Balancing WotLK is finished besides the obvious post cockblock bosses raid instances (Hyjal/BT alike). Its possible to get it in a "releaseable" state but I think they should take their time to bring out a good product even if it means that some k players quit the game out of boredom :P
Blizz will never let anyone push them into releasing an "unfinished" game. And TBH, if someone thinks WoW is "bad", they didnt play the other MMORPGs yet.
(btw, Bugfixing and balancing probably takes longer then the initial development)

Well, as someone who's already moved my addons off the SVN here, I can provide my perspective:
The main reason is that the CurseForge project management is incredibly overcomplicated. I'm not supporting a Linux distro here; I'm releasing a 5kb UI mod for an MMO. I just want a place to enter a title, write a description, upload a picture or two, upload new versions, and get feedback from users. I don't need "pages", I just want a single description. I don't need components, milestones, and multi-author project management. I don't want to have to click through 3 pages just to get to the point where I can fix a typo. I don't want to spend 45 minutes looking for documentation, conducting forum searches, and submitting issue tickets to figure out how to edit my addon's description, as I recently had to do after the basic "edit description" function was removed and folded into the "pages" system.
While the CurseForge ticket system and auto-packaging are nice, the rest of the system is just way more than I need, and as a result is far more difficult and time consuming to use than it needs to be. Since I'm already hosting my addons on CurseForge, and have them all set up and ready for 456723-click version pushes, I don't see any reason to do it all over again on WowAceForge. Also, as I understand, it will only be necessary to host an addon on one site, as it will be syndicated to both.

I think mainly people that played other MMORPGs before think WoW is "bad" (including myself) How can you call something bad if you cant compare it to others Games you have played? (Everyone should know that MMORPG "Reviews" basically say nothing about a Game)
Iam not saying the other upcoming MMORPGs are better than WoW though :P

Yeah, it almost seems like WowInterface is geared to be a home for small addons, CurseForge for large addon projects, and that WowAce the main community thinktank and testing ground.

Well guys, I'm working towards making sure that the usage of wowace is much cleaner. I'm using it as a chance to redo a lot of things I think could have been done better at curseforge.
It'll be oh so much fun to backport it all.
My goal is to make it so that the curseforge software has a more transparent appeal for smaller projects but scales up to the needs of larger projects. I'll be opening up beta.wowace.com soon for people to mess around with and see what they think. :)

Well, I'm certainly willing to switch again if the new site meets my needs, and do enjoy the great dialog made possible by the forums here. We'll see what it looks like.
After reading most of this thread.... I only have one thing to say...
There are an awful lot of people sporting tinfoil hats all of a sudden....
I'm happy for the changes and what they could bring in for developers. I will still be here to support the WoWAce site even if I personally don't like curse.
(btw This site was always originally about supporting addon authors, not the lazy whiney users [i.e. FIX JOO ADDON IT BROK FOR ME!!!1111ELEVETYBILLIONTIMES OVER!!!])

Blizzard isn't the Blizzard North we used to know and love.
Blizzard isn't calling the shots anymore.
Last I checked, Activision had no qualms about selling unfinished software.
I was thinking something along those lines, with all I've heard of beta not being anywhere near ready - yet Blizzard has posted a definitive ship date...
Its possible that things have slipped there, but I really don't think that blizzard would let themselves get pushed to do something before they felt they where ready.
Blizzard is definitely in a rush to get WotLK done. If you read the beta/PTR forums, you'll know that they're triaging changes by pushing off non-critical changes to a post-WotLK patch.
It's also worth pointing out that Blizzard NEVER pounds a stake in the sand like this in terms of public dates.
This is because it was announced to shareholders early this year that WotLK would be coming out in the last quarter of '08, in time for Xmas. The corporate suits have removed from the developers the power to make a good product, just to raise their stock value and cash in on Xmas sales.
WOLTK is still more polished than any incoming MMO releases for the next 2 years :P
I'm not quite sure about that. WAR is polished and working - and fun. Yeah, Wrath is fun too (I'm in the beta - although the only European realm is lagging, crashing and almost unplayable many times), but the game has a strong rival now.
