Yes im running under admin...i wonder if i was to load the addons from another desktop and put them on a jump drive and load them to my computer would that work?
Since the jump drive would mean you're copying files, just like -- copying files, yes it'll work. Assuming you take your saved variables with you (that is if you want to keep your settings).
Or alternatively, you could just get the addons you want from files.wowace.com, to get them without externals you can do files.wowace.com/addonname/ And then browse to no-ext/. You download the zipfile without the version numbers, that's the latest.
Vista 64 isn't fully supported I believe, and are you running it as administrator?
This is the stupid question of the day -- but how would I know if I'm running it as an administrator. I'm having a similar problem with my new machine.

In Task Manager, it'll show the owner of the process. Right click the task bar -> Task Manager
View -> Select COlumns, make sure User name is checked.
Assuming you dont have it set up where your administrators account is not named administrator (which is what I have lol)
Can you then take this over? LOL, since I only use XP :P
I think problems can occur when you have wow installed in default C:\Program Files since I have mine on D:\ I can't really help :) I have a friend that needs to run WoW as admin just to take screenshots.

THat we have in common .. C: for all windows only (or those pesky applications that don't let you choose where to install the blasted things) D: for all other applications. E: docs. F: videos/movies G: music (yes, I have a lot of partitions. :P In short it's done to easily mount the right partition in linux)
Great - so now I just have to learn how to partion my drive and then reinstall the game. :(
Naah.. But are you certain your firewall (Vista has one built in too don't it?) isn't blocking stuff? APparently tuns of people with Vista can get it to work, so I doubt you'll have to repartition and reinstall.
I run WoW on its own partition. I mount it as my W: drive.
Just thought I'd share that with everyone.
If you run it from Program Files under Vista, you will have issues which you will need to address, or it won't work. Fortunately you can just move it to another directory and run it from there without having to reinstall or anything. Run it from your desktop even.

I think it's a permission and security thing, at least it is for me.
I am using Vista 32-bit on a new Dell Laptop. I get Error During Update error when I update. I right clicked the WorldofWarcraft directory in Program Files, when to the security tab, and put the ownership of the folder as my user account, then set permission to Full Control for Administrators, Users and System. It now works.
Hope this helps.
