Ctrl-F is so 1990's... besides, with Firefox, you can just start typing...
I'm trying to think of a good argument for not using "Show all" + Ctrl-F, but the only ones I can come up with involve load time... and if load time is a problem for anyone, then they would not be able to play WoW as the lag alone would cause the client to time out while connecting and return to the login screen with a *very* informative "Disconnected from the server" dialog every time even with no addons loaded.
The old page was great because it was incredibly fast to load the page and incredibly fast to do a quick search for anything. You could jump right down to the hits/matches, and find what you were looking for without any trouble, and that made this the first site I'd visit when looking for addons. I knew that I could visit the site and download what I wanted in seconds. Also, I would send others to wowace.com if it had the addon they wanted, because of how easy it was to locate each addon, unlike other addon sites where it was easy to get lost looking for what you wanted.
Because of the new layout, Wowace.com is no longer the first page I visit when looking for new or old addons, and I now send people to other addon sites when they are looking to download a particular addon.
I'd just LOVE the option to go back to the original page... Not like "Oh that'd be cool"... No... I'd LOVE it. Please.
I registered here just to post this. Wowace.com is not my preferred addon site any longer, but I hope it will return.
Umm to make it easier on everyones eyes... Couldn't you make it so you could have you could choose which addons you want to watch for updates for... Or something... That way I'd see like the 20 or so addons I have instead of the 100's... That would probably help the page load faster too..
OK, i tried to keep out of that discussion, but i need to ask all, that want the old side back, why dont you just use http://files.wowace.com/latest.xml ? u have kinda the same information as in the old site ? and if you argument is, i just want to search ... well you can do that, eve, without an rss reader.
Please respect the work and efford to make a nice, good looking and up to date site, Kaelten is doing, probably in his spare time. And dont think its there only to please you. there are THOUSANDS of people using those sites ever day.
fullish: might be ad related? whats the version of flash you using?
I just got the 18.104.22.168 Firefox update. I don't know how to determine the version of Flash that's installed, sorry. But as of 920pm EST on 9/20, hitting the http://files.wowace.com main page still pegs my CPU at max. Currently displayed on the page is the Fury challenge ad. Do you think that has something to do with it?
Edit: I just noticed that the PackageMancer version is listed below. It's v1.5.135.
all reports I've had refer to the fury ad as being the cause, I'm trying to ge a new ad from the client, but so far no luck. My advice is if you see that ad and you have the problem then reload the page until it goes away.
