If something isn't done to remove the annoying pop-up ads coming thru WowAceUpdater, there are going to be problems.

I have few problems with a banner ad (even if they are annoying and shouldn't be there)... but if the ads continue to appear like the freakin Show Time ad for "The Tudors" I swear I will do everything I can to block *ANY* ads from your program again.

Either that, or someone please let me know of other programs that update Ace without ads (or at least this ad provider)

edit: http://everythingisnt.com/hosts.html solved my problems. I suggest others use it as well if your annoyed with pop up ads.

If you spent 30 seconds looking in the Updaters forum, you'd find several non-WAU wowace-compatible updater programs. As a bonus, most of them also can also update addons from release sites too.

I stated in my original post that I don't mind ads. BUT I do mind POP-UP ads.

I'll give you a minute to go back and re-read my original post until you realize how foolish your reply was. While you are there, notice the placement of the word "pop-up".

Ya back? Did ya happen to catch that tidbit? Or should I give you another couple minutes?

Re-load your WAU until you get the Showtime ad for "The Tudors" and tell me that isn't crossing the line. That isn't a banner ad that just sits there saying 'look at me.' That is a full fledged ZOMG LOOK AT ME!!! as it pops up above EVERYTHING ELSE and refuses to stay minimized. I hit the X button on it 15 times in a row and it kept coming back.

I love WAU. I've used it for a LONG time now. Before there was ads and continued using it AFTER ads were added. No complaints - because the program matured and continued to add new features that I really like. I've migrated alot of mods to ACE due to ease of use and new features. With no problems UNTIL the pop-up ads.

I don't want to replace WAU. It does everything I want it to flawlessly. It's the same reason I don't block Google ads. Unobtrusive ads are bearable. Pop-ups are NOT.

Let me repeat this... one... more... time, since you didn't get it the first time. Maybe I was to subtle: I don't mind ads. Pop-up ads are bulls...tuff and won't be tolerated. I won't tolerate them in my Internet Browser. And I won't tolerate them in a third party app.

Again... learn to read... and not be an arse.

there are no pop-ups here or ever were....but might be because Iam not living in the US and get other ads :P

This is the wrong place to post this, maybe direct your complaint to Updaters.

I've never seen a pop-up, and I'm one of the habitual updaters, usually updating every day before I log on.

Just aheads up, I'm doing everything I can to raise hell about this ad issue and others that we've been having. Expandable, popups, musical, ect are types of ads that I will not allow having in the updater.
