Sorry if it has been mentioned already, but it will no longer actually delete the addons before extracting the new version. Using Vista 64 if that has something to do with it.
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or no, classes ended for the quarter so I decided I'd spend some of my more-free free time fiddling with my UI (it's almost a compulsion). Thought it would be fun to give WAU a whirl and so downloaded and installed .NET through the Windows updater. Grabbed the most recent version I saw on SF (1.8.27.221) and ran the program. The program screen loaded fine, but it's been sitting at "Retrieving available addons..." for about five minutes now. Somehow I doubt this is the norm. Haven't touched any settings or anything, this is the first time I've run the program ever.

Edit - Tried again while getting ready for bed, this time around it was sitting there for easily half an hour before I gave up and closed the program down.

I had this exact same problem and I found a workaround that doesn't really make sense but it fixed it for me. I found that if I dragged the WAU icon onto my desktop and used that to start the program, I would run into the dreaded "Retrieving available addons" line. Instead, I made a shortcut icon by right clicking WAU inside its directory. Then I cut/pasted the shortcut icon onto the desktop and now it works fine. Go figure.
i don't know if this has been said yet, 33 pages is a lot to sift through.
i think it would be awesome if you could somehow flag an addon to never be showed in the list, because i find myself searching through a gigantic list of addons every once in a while looking to see if there's anything new and interesting. 90% of the listings are of things that i would never even consider using :/
The exe itself needs to be with its other files. WAU uses those files - it's just not one file. (if that makes sense :P )
edit for clarity: you don't take the WOW .exe and place it on your desktop, you use a shortcut. :)
'Tis in the same folder as the other files it came with in the zip, though not in the same folder as the add-ons for WoW itself. Tried one attempt where I moved the .exe and the config file into the Addons folder but no luck with that either.
There are a couple of .dll files along with the .exe and config file. It doesn't matter where they are as long as they're all together.
Hmm, that might do it then, but there were no .dll files in the zip I downloaded, I'll try again.

Re-downloaded and there was a .dll file in there this time, mayhaps I got a bad zip file the first attempt. Here goes nothing...

Yay file list!

Edit - Random thought, perhaps a .txt file or a subsection in the readme (or even something on the wiki) listing what ought to be in the zip in case someone else gets a bad zip copy like I did the first time?
Would be nice to display in the Index, "Last Updated" and "Version Number" Columns for easier reference... or maybe display in Bold Letters addons that needs Updating.
Another Nifty adition would be the Ability to Minimize the Categories(Packages/Installed/Not Installed).
In my never ending quest to make me less of a noob and to optimize my system, I found the error logs, specifically FrameXML.log... and a LOT of errors in it.
If I manually move the folders around (ie: cartographer) I would assume some errors would go away, however when I update with WAU will it replace those folders? :)
It's not letting me uninstall addons. It keeps saying:
{0} - Skipping. Either it is a subversion working copy or it isn't currently installed.
Uninstall Complete
Hmm.. They ARE read only. What would make them read only? And the reason I didn't want to remove them myself is because I have the updater. Why should I have to uninstall it myself if it has a feature to uninstall.
Edit: Well, unchecked read-only on the World of Warcraft folder and had it automatically change everything inside aswell. This fixes my problem, I'm just not sure why they were read-only in the first place.

Try using compatibility modes and run as admin,
Tried compatibility at XP SP2 and Ran as Admin, still won't delete. Ah well, thanks anyway.

Just some final mentions:
Besides the commandline parameters mentioned on a previous page.
WAU contains a feature where if updating w/o externals, it will delete the file "embeds.xml" from your addon root.
If the addon author supports the embeds.xml design pattern, then there should only be 1 error in the framexml.log for the missing embedded libs.
Support of this feature is optional clearly. This is what you will see if the addon supports it:
Thank you all for your support over these many months! I hope you have enjoyed my work as much as I have enjoyed doing it.
Take Care,
-Syl
