It would be nice to not have to go around mountains sometimes, don't ya think? Well, my request is that in the next patch, someone should add a new profession: Climbing. I mean, it would be practical, and a little fun to test out. Tell me what u guys (and girls) think about my idea. ;D
Would be a pretty stupid profession in every flyable area... oh wait, that's everything besides the old world and Wintergrasp oO
And what use would it have besides fun? Would anybody choose a profession that isn't worth any money?
AoC has it. I imagine it's more of a skill (think defence, weapon skills) he's talking about.
As for applications there could be some, for example in instances but I fail to see it having any sort of relevance except in gimmicky situations. Flavourful addition ? Yes. Worth the dev time ? No.
And I think this guy is a bit confused about what wowace is about.
No way it's going to happen without a major re-design of the landscape.
Blizzard explicitly tried to stop "wall-climbing" because it was used to reach areas that are normally inaccessible (eg. "Old Hyjal"),
Quest NPCs bypassing hostiles (eg. the quest npc on top of wintergrasp mountain),
or completely avoid dungeon trash making such things possible as soloing Heroic Slave Pens last boss by skipping every mob in the instance and using wall climb to make him path around while you shoot or dot him until he dies.
Considering they removed such a feature/bug that was used both benignly (reach IF airport or Old Hyjal and sight-see areas not normally accessible in the game)
and as an exploit (bypassing content that is not meant to be bypassed) the chance of putting it back is between slim and none.
