I posted up a new project a couple of days ago and not only has it not syndicated, the project itself has seemingly been deleted.
The only reason I can possibly fathom that it was deleted is that whoever was approving saw the word "compilation" in my description and deleted it.
Nevermind that it is NOT a compilation of other addons, but a compilation of Broker addons that I wrote. Nevermind that these were only available in the packaged distribution that I had uploaded. Apparently, the word "compilation" is enough to get your project deleted.
Perhaps if said person had actually bothered to read the rest of the description or bothered to spend more than a few seconds looking at the code, they would have seen that it was original work.
Kinda pissed off about it honestly, particularly considering that I didn't get a private message or email. I've been happy enough using curseforge for my WAR addons, but I think I might start using WoWInterface again for WoW.
Hi, your "compilation" was deleted with the following reason:
Hello, we currently don't accept packs of addons here on CurseForge. I would still like to include your addons, however they would have to be uploaded individually. Ackis
You should upload your 4 mini broker addons individually as 4 addons, not as 1 addon, unless it really is one addon that creates 4 broker objects (in which your addon description should say so clearly). Your addon had the description:
BasicBrokers is small collection of simple LibBroker plugins. The collection includes: BasicBroker XP:
Displays xp% for XP/Rested. Also includes tooltip with info like Mobs to Level, Time to Level. BasicBroker Money:
Displays current gold amount. Also includes tooltip with basic info like gold gained per session and gold per hour. BasicBroker Bags:
Displays bag space in used/available format. Tooltip shows info per individual bag. Click opens/closes bag. BasicBroker Quests:
Displays # of quests in QuestLog. Tooltip provides basic zone info about Quests. Left-Click opens QuestLog, Right-Click opens QuestHelper menu (if installed).
NOTE: These are basic usage addons for minimalists. There are lots of other addons that do more complex things. That is not the intent, so please do not make these types of feature requests.
Yes, I agree with you that the current system, which doesn't inform the author about what happened to the project, is bad.
Fair enough. It's up on WoWInterface now, but I'll post the latest version here. There really does need to be some step in the process between deletion and rejection.
And yes, it is one addon that creates four broker objects (five now). In the latest revision, each plugin has it's own file and only the functions common between all five are in my BrokerBasics.lua file. Simply deleting an undesired plugin will safely cause it not to load.
Tekkub: THAT is one thing I would like to see in the LDB spec - what not to name the addon supplying the data feeds. We're seeing an explosion of StatBlock_MyAddon (for example) - I'm assuming this is following the FuBar_MyAddonFu model - though StatBlockCore is simply ONE LDB display. I don't see a way around the Broker_MyAddon paradigm though, and that's generic enough to not tie it to one display.
I know, but they're doing it anyway. Just figured if there were a suggestion in the description of what LDB is, that would help as it is "official". I'd rather it not be in the spec, TBH - I had another bout of reading the forums after just waking up. Yay.
