Just had a few questions, I want to get into programming interface addons for WoW but have no idea where to start. I am most familiar with PHP scripting so I am hoping the the skills will transfer over well. If you guys can point me to the right direction of where to start, like the basics and then I think I can take over and move into the more complicated stuff and into developping under ace.
For even MORE basic techniques, I read WoWwik'si guide on things. It helped establish a basis for why thigs are the way they are (at least for me).
Team Ace has been working on a beginners guide with all the basics of coding. Get the Ace Deleopment Kit and read the forums there as well. It's not the beginners guide, but all things Ace for an example of why Ace if different and how.
Dink around with an existing mod. Sounds ludicrious, but this is where I actually learned what little I know thus far. I open an addon, and then load WoW with it. Then I stare at the code and compare the code to how the addon looks/works/operates to understand the coding and why they did what they did, how they did it, wtf were they thinking when they did it, who they did it with, and how many people did it with other people that did it while doing it together. That sounds like an orgy, but it is the truth.
So, in summary: America - Good! Sadaam - Bad! 1000 points of light.... Here's the church, here's the steeple, open up the doors and see all the little people! And orgy.

Good luck!
So far the single best starting place I've found is the thread Stylpe mentioned, but jump to Page 3 and get Touchdown-Commented by Rowne.
I'm about to go back and read the Class notes and I know these will now make so much more sense!
Anyone have updates?
