Opening a new topic is preferrable to cluttering up an existing topic with totally unrelated posts. That said, what exactly is your concern with Aloft? At load, my addons occupy 33mb of memory; Aloft accounts 271kb, which is 0.8% of my total addon memory usage. My machine has 2.5gb of RAM, meaning Aloft uses about 0.0001% of my total memory. Even if your machine has just 1gb of RAM, Aloft would only need 0.00027% of your RAM. After flying around Shattrath for 10 minutes loading nameplates for everyone I could find, Aloft's memory use increases only to 296kb. Is that really worth the time and effort you expend trying to find another addon (and typing forum posts about your search, which by the way is futile; Aloft really is the only one of its kind) that has the features you want instead of just using the addon you know already has those features?
If you disabled Aloft, you'd see huge memory usage on the next addon in the load order that embeds Ace libraries; that big number includes the memory usage of that addon's copies of the libraries it embeds, which get used by all subsequently loaded addons. If A, B, and C all embed libraries X and Y (assuming the libraries are the same versions in all three), the copies of X and Y in A are also used by B and C, and the copies of X and Y in B and C are discarded on load.
I realized that shortly after I posted (and in now way when I disabled Aloft and started WoW to find the next one down the list jump up in memory usage), but figured I'd leave the post anyway. Go me!
That's for sure. I've found pTags to be such a helpful addon - I hope it never breaks. It works wonderfully in conjunction with Contemplate. I definitely see the benefit of class colored nameplates, but I'm certainly not picking up Aloft just for that.
Where could i find a copy of pTags, those 2 links aren't working anymore and it's not available on wowinterface.
Stop hosting my old addons, Im tired of having bug issues with addons i dont even make any more
And FYI, thats the exact reason i removed the SVN and made a new one.
If you want pTags, go get evl_NamePlates, its what pTags is forked from.
Just so you know, not everyone knows you don't make them anymore. If I use an addon in a package that works, but has been abandoned, usually i use it until it's dead. I think that is how most people are.
Well if the host decides to remove the hosting site AND remove the addon before that even, AND says he disbands the addon on 2 diffrent sites, then its probably disbanded..
Yesbit you are missing my point, not everyone even knows where to get your addons, so they wouldn't know if you weren't making them anymore. I understand your frustration, you just can't expect everyone to know exactly what is going on.

P3lim, just make a thread with list of your current addons and up-to-date links :) shord description welcome:) many ppl will say thanx for that
Aloft is 4megs for me somehow O.o
You use embedded libraries. It doesn't count.
