I actively delete comments that have error messages in them, and people reporting a bug I reply to their comments with that link and/or my ticket trackers.
Yeah the Curse comments page is kind of useless for high-traffic addons because the layout deters structured/organized communication. Your best bet is probably to direct people to more desirable venues (ticket tracker and/or wowace forum) in big bold letters, and optionally disable Curse project page comments as further encouragement.
I receive PMs, comments on curse, comments on wiki pages on google code, issues on curse, issues on wowi, and issues on google code. My theory is to try and get everything working with RSS and then I can be happy.
