Ok so logging in and posting should be more or less fixed now. There are still a few quirks related to the showing of mixed secure content. We'll be stabbing at least some solutions in the meantime for that.
Yeah, the main site is... well, it looks like someone barfed HTML elements onto a canvas, LOL. The forums aren't terrible. I put Firefox on this machine, but I'm only here about half the time. And everyone else, well, back to work! :P
I'd say mostly out of habit because IE comes pre-installed with Windows (though it is my understanding that this trend is ending with Windows 7), so there is really no point for someone in the IT to bother installing something else, unless it's going to be used for a specific purpose. "Power Users" will always install whatever works for them anyway :p
I wonder why all companys i know use IE instead of my lovly Firefox...
Mainly because we don't want to have to support it. Unfortunately, the majority of users still use IE at home if anything, and therefore are more familiar with it. We don't exactly have many people whose job it is to surf the web, so honestly standard compliance isn't particularly important so long as they can access the sites they need for work.
