Matrix no sweat, You did get the point right. I know how you feel about skinner.
Sure this baby hase a loads off files, but Thats just how the blizz stuff is build-up. Addons that use default blizz art might work fine, it mutch depents on what files they use.
When the addon uses It's own art, I will change that.
One thing that I wont do is upload there addon with the new art, It will be only the art part off the addon.
For all with some luck, I'll have a new screenshot up tonight. With thined borders. And Yes I do think that it looks mutch smoother. Thanks for the comments.
One thing still fighting with is the black/gray background. I can't seem to get it just like I whant. If anyone has a good nice clear black/gray backdrop with mutch shades please pm me ;)
ps. Phanx I'll change the screens on page 1 then as promised.
but Skinner is on of the biggest junk collections on WoWAce as it includes 1 or more files for almost every AddOn even if you dont use 200 of them
To be fair individual addon skins are in a seperate folder and you have to move each addon file into the skinme folder for it to load. AFAIK WoW doesn't load every file in the addon directory, so it's not like you're loading all 200 skins. Considering how many mods people use, getting consistancy from an entire GUI change is nigh on impossible. Perhaps someone needs to design a mod like buttonfacade where people add in support into their own addons rather than the original mod supporting everything.
To post on topic, I like the updated pic. Would love to see it inserted in the UI (as that adds so many more elements). I personally liked the original background textures, including the parchment. I felt they were textured, but still fairly subtle. The new one looks a bit to uniform and somewhat too light (IMHO!). I like gradients :D
I've been doing a similar thing myself on a much smaller scale, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out what I need to replace to change the green "equipped glow" border on equipped items displayed on bars, anyone have any idea?
The updates are very pretty, the gradient transparent borders especially so. I'm not sure about removing the parchment from the gylph and spellbook frames. You would probably want it to re-appear fairly frequently in the GUI in order for it to feel a part of the UI. If it just appeared in text n quest frames it might seem out of place.
Also the secondary text in the the spellbook doesn't show up well on black.
Finally (ref:The spellbook frame) the up/down texture on the selected/unselected tabs is very clever (and looks great) but it ruins the text offsetting (I assume you can't move the text depending on whether the tab is selected or not).
P.S. Background texture to the frames is very nice.
Edit: Since when did the proffession frame have buttons to each profession you have learnt? Is that a mod? If so please provide link, sounds very useful.
Scae I know what you mean about the spellbook I'm looking into ways off changing this so that the text looks good & the tabs look better I have an idea I'll give you an update as soon I changed it.

I have got a light parchment background for the quest log.
If anyone has more exp. with skinning please let me know.
I'm fighting with a mayor thing as you can see in the screenshot
Links?
Please rember it's still work in progress :)
The Old Spellbook & Glyphs looked nice, I changed the border. The color might change again. Still working that one out.
The yellow is darn hard to read. I did remove the tribal from the Spellbook because it did popup on more locations than just the Spellbook.
Still some frames I'm missing because I think blizz shares the with multple locations. (like the Macro frame)
