I am using Flash, and happily haven't seen a WoWAce/Curse CAPTCHA since the bug with Opera/Windows was fixed. I was speaking more generally though, about the problems with the small sizes of CAPTCHA images... it's like the first CAPTCHA implementation was designed for 640x480 resolution, and ever since then everyone else has just stuck with those image dimensions... :p
I feel your pain Phanx - I run at 1680x1050 and some of those images are so tiny/pixelated I feel like I have to practically have my nose against the screen in order to read them. And that's with my glasses ON! :)
Hm did Curse change the protection here at WowAce? Some days ago I could download the files without captcha (if I enabled the Flash object) and now I click the Flash download button but have to enter Captcha...

Working fine for me... did anything else change on your system?
Good for WM, shows the corporate greed that is Curse.
I await till Curse changes there policies that forbid anyone for hosting addons on curse and Wowmatrix now for fear of losing there precious ad revenue.
Crippling an addon updater by charging for an add free version/faster downloads is a bad idea and is frowned upon by most of the WoW community. It's really clear Curse is just in this for money.

"WM, on the other hand, claim that Curse refused to negotiate and instead just tried to buy Matrix outright, whereas WM was trying to compensate for bandwidth, figure out how to use less bandwidth, and show Curse ads."
I don't see anything that contradicts what is already common knowledge. Curse never refused that they tried to buy WM. Kaelten has mentioned this more than once and the reason they "refused to negotiate" was because the compensation "offered" by WM was not enough to even cover a fraction of the induced costs.
You forgot the part where Curse had announced that the CC would eventually go premium since...erm...after WAU was discontinued. As with everyone else, you are several months late on the subject. It was known ages ago and there was even a notice in the client about it. Curse was pretty clear on their intentions since the beginning. At the very least they are paying not just for hosting but also for the repos and the various tools available to developers here (forums, ticketing system, comment system, packager, separate webpages with descriptions and optional screenshots). What is WM offering other than a client (that very soon everyone will be offering ?), more specifically what are the offering to the "source" of the addons (aka authors) to convince them that their intentions are "pure" ?
Don't hold your breath. Curse will not be changing anything and no one is forbidding authors from hosting their addons wherever they want to. You just have to accept the simple reality that a good portion has had issues with WM and their practices.
But no. Stop. This has all been stated before, on multiple occasions. Dead horse is dead.

It's addon licenses that prevent it, not Curse policies. Sigh, someone else who doesn't know what he's talking about.
Bandwidth for 12 million players is free, amirite?

Yes, the servers and bandwith are free of charge.. who would dare to charge for an infrastructure that's for free!
If they would realise half of what Curse is doing to streamline addon development...
Those comments are shocking? :-o
People on the internet are full of ignorance, misinformation, and prejudgment?
Just how long have you been on the internet? >:D
