I'm posting this here so I don't have to copy it over every time and we can discuss it out of the addon page comments. I'll link to here from addon comments of addons that have weird descriptions in the first line.
Hi. Please dont start the description of your addon with WARNING FOR THE LATEST VERSION BLA BLA BLA <-- I dont give a crap about this. The list of addons yours appears in shows just that first line. I just want to know wtf it does and this does not tell me that, so please just start your addon description with one line describing what it is. Thanks.
I get where you're coming from, but until someone fixes the issues with "short" descriptions, you're going to see stuff. For example, any description that uses headers, etc, will have those appear unformatted and in-line with the rest of what's on the page.
That said, if I have an add-on that needs something at the top of the page (for example my cyCircled skins have something to the effect of, "HAY! DIS B OUT OF DATE!"), I'll put it there. For the rest, I'll format them in a way that looks readable as the page is viewed. The short description messing it up isn't my problem.
Well it is a valid problem in both directions.
1) Authors should be aware of the limitations and problems with in the system and adjust accordingly.
2) The Providers of the system should be fixing known quarks and issues with in the system.
As an author i respect both sides, I'll keep the top 4 lines to a short description for the sake of the problem with in the system. But as an author I'll report the conflict with in the system to the right people.
... I can understand where you're coming from... where do you see these wonky descriptions?
TBH what concerns me more are addons that don't really have descriptions at all. :P
Or a picture, if it's a graphically intensive addon. >:3
Poor advertising will just reduce the number of users, unless it's so uber-kick-ass-cool-womgwtfdrobbq that word of mouth provides a dedicated and fanatical following. xD
