So I was wondering what factors is it that makes my game laggier now that i started playing a while ago from about a year ago? I've got alot more addons now before i had the default version plus some basic ones. I also have a smaller(or is it bigger? whichever that makes more stuff fit into the screen) UI scale than before but my resolution is the same. So is it because one of these things or is it something else like my comp? Also will a bigger resolution create more lag?
Thanks in Advance.
More addon, not enough memory, bigger screen resolutions could reduce your FPS rate but not induce lag.
Lag is strictly related to network. So what could change lag is your local network (are you using wifi ?), ISP service quality, network setup between your ISP and the Blizzard datacenter (including 3rd party network service providers), ...
right so it has nothing to do with my resolution being high, UI scale or amount of addons?
If you have more add-ons than before, WoW will definitely exhibit a lower framerate. It might be imperceptibly lower, however, as add-ons don't tend to add enough overhead to notice on most modern computers. Lowering some of the new graphics settings, mainly the shadows, is more likely to help.
Draw distance. From what I recall being quoted elsewhere, setting the slider to about the middle in the post-3.0 releases is around the same as the pre-3.0 releases' maximum setting. This will most likely have more impact than the shadows if you have the draw distance currently set to max.
If it's stuttery freezes in high population areas, it's probably related to your hard drive. When you hit town the game starts loading up tons of textures. If you don't have enough memory, things start writing back to the drive as virtual memory... it's a vicious cycle.
Defrag your drive, get more memory, and turn down your vid settings... in that order.
