I've subscribed to the mods I use on their Wowace project pages, but I never recieve emails alerting me when they are updated. My email address is entered correctly, and I see the short list of updates on the My WowAce page, but I've yet to have an email notification.
For most projects I've chosen only File Updates, with e-mail (Text) and Real Time as the selected settings. For a few I've tried the other settings just in an attempt to get it to work, but no matter what I don't get notifications. My email doesn't have a spamblocker either, so that isn't the problem.
So I tried to change my email to a different one just to test, and for some reason http://www.wowace.com/home/edit-email/ does not work. I enter the new email, confirm it, hit update, and nothing happens, and the email remains unchanged. I tried in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Am I using the correct page to manage email and subscriptions, or do I have to do it through the curse website?
When WowAce merged with curse, I switched my email from one of my accounts to another. Last night when trying to fix the subscription problem I tried to switch my email back to the original address, and it wouldn't update. When I later changed my email to a 3rd account, the email change page works fine. I changed it a few more times to various emails and they all work, but when trying to change my email back to the original box, it just never updates and the update button does not work. Weird.
As for my original problem, I changed the email to a gmail account, and suddenly subscriptions started working fine. My normal email address has no spam folders or blocker, and I added those addresses to my contact list as a test. Still no luck. I've instead just changed my email on wowace to a gmail account, and I have gmail forwarding all subscription emails to my normal email box, which seems to be working fine.
Strange problem, but I have it worked out so oh well. Thanks for the help!
It may be that whoever is hosting the email address that isn't receiving subscriptions has blacklisted the Curse/WowAce sites. That could explain why the email doesn't get delivered to that address. A lot of blacklisting happens automatically by software and can be reverted if you notify them.
Yahoo is notorious for grey and blacklisting with no good reason. We have issues here trying to send mail to Yahoo receipients and communication with Yahoo is frustrating and fruitless. I recommend acquiring the services of a different e-mail provider.
