but there is one thing missing, and its my link "Show new post in the threads you replied" or something like that. Is it somewhere that i didnt see or its just not there?
The private messaging functionality of vBulletin is an order of magnitude better than that of the old software, and our old PMs got ported over - very nice.
vBulletin is very powerful. it has a very nice framework and hooks that the site authors can use easily create products/ plugins to do exactly what anyone wanted in SMF. There probably already is a product to do that.
I personally have 4 vbulletin guild sites that i maintain and write products for and there isnt anything that I can't do.
It wouldnt be very difficult though, to write a simple tool that will re-subscribe people to threads that they have posted so that it will show threads you've posted in.
Also, kaelten, if you havent already, i strongly recommend installing these products

what you would want to do, is go to your User CP -> Edit Options and change Default Thread Subscription Mode to any option
Then just by visiting your User CP you will see information about all of the posts you have replied /or subscribed to.
Saves people a TON of download time from users who post a lot and have large images in their sigs.
Not really, images are only downloaded once, and then cached in the browser. Repeated displays of the same image costs no bandwidth and no extra load time.
vBulletin 3.7 is already quite capable of blocking most spammers, lack of guest posting and a strong CAPTCHA sorts that.
Besides, there's no way to actually register an account to these forums, registration is done via Curse.com and the account is then transferred onto the forums upon first page load.
So any anti-spam scripts would be in the hands of Curse.com, and cannot be solved via vBulletin.
Not only is this site powered by WoWDB (Curse.com's alternative to WoWHead), but there's really no reason to store items in the local database when WoWHead's (and WoWDB's) own "Powered By" scripts work offa item IDs. I doubt most people would care about item quality formatting on their links, since I should imagine most developer relevant posts with itemids are just there to either notify the user or the developer that item x does not work with mod y, etc.

Wowhead > wowdb ! but im biased :)
but yes, i do store the item in a local database for a good reason, but i have not yet implemented its usage. Wowhead works off of item ID, not item name. I have to store an item name to itemID locally as I don't expect many users to know item id's of their items :p
but those are posts for another forum :)
I use the signature thing also because some users tend to have signatures that are so large or filled with so many images that they're borderline obtrusive.
The spam thing though, I get quite a bit of spam accounts being created by hand every day. i can use captcha, question/answer techniques, anything, and i still get these registrations. They're not automating anymore. It's rather amusing that they'll actualy pay people to find forums and register on them to make posts.
One forum actually required you to have a valid wow character before you can register (it checks to see if the armory URL is valid via armorylite.com) and i still get unwanted registrations, but i stopped using that becuase i wanted to have more community than just wow players

...of your avatar's cleavage-quotient?
Setup a no-email subscription to threads in user options.
"Thread tool" popup menu / "Subscribe to this thread" ?
I personally can't live without that button on any forum I visit >_> Main reason I disliked SMF.
