I think it should be something small and simple, just like Ace3. Suggestion attached.
I like this one a lot... wonder if it'd look worse with an "A" in it.

Hmm, Ace3 is a framework, much like this lattice.
Ace3 sometimes appears to be tied in knots, much like this visual paradox.
If Ace3 is exponentially better than Ace2, the cube concept works!
While the "cube" is neat, and certainly applicable with the 3... that's way too damn big. I really like the font on that though. Maybe we could expand on that, keep "Ace" spelled out, and throw the spade behind the 3 instead of the A. Maybe use Snago's spade-3 and your "Ace" font...

The font I used is Warnock Pro (opticals set, caption intent, normal weight, italic).
One thing to keep in mind is that if one of the intended uses of the new logo is for in-game icons, you should demonstrate what it looks like at 16x16 pixels. (Sometimes they end up even smaller than that.)
There's nothing wrong with using one version for in-game icons and another version (based on the same idea) for a web site logo. As one example, browse on over to the Google or Microsoft or Yahoo web site and look at the logo that appears in the tab of your web browser. Obviously, you can't fit the entire logo into that space, so they chose a key part of it that represents (and still identifies) the whole thing.
Many of you have picked up on this and chose to use the key elements "A" and "3" for the icons, which is a good idea. Now think of how that might translate to the logo in the top-left corner of all the wowace.com web pages. There's more room here, enough to fully identify Ace3 and World of Warcraft.
(Ignore the cube, I just stuck it there because I can't quite decide how to elegantly stick a spade into this design yet. :P)
Sure, it only has two settings, but using the image property of the description option type allowed me to easily create a UI that is friendly and intuitive for users.
While I like most suggestions to an extend, I have a small note here. The usual background of the Ace3 config, which is where said logo would most likely appear as well, is dark. So you shouldn't make a black (or very very very dark blue) logo, though I wouldn't go very contrasting either - that would make it too prominent. After some sleep, I'll see if I can cook something up.
Already thought about that. That's why the ace of spades have a white outline and the 3 a black one. Attached a version with black background to show what I mean.
Hey guys - before you jump on me about how that graphic looks, note that I said that all I did was add a 3 to the icon from WAU (the version with the A, not the one with the arrow). You see that blue spade I made every day when you update. :P
And, as I said before, the spade on the front page is Blue.
I know it looks funny, but I wouldn't make it red. The only red thing on this site is the Ace of Hearts in the logo. And you do not think red when you think Ace of Spades. Blue or Black. I picked Blue because the site is blue and the ace on the front page is blue.
I'm not meaning to get defensive, but this was taken out of context when it was split from the other thread. Tekkub threw the idea out there about using a little Ace3 logo/icon for the bottom corner of some config dialogs. I added a 3 to that graphic as a starting point. It wasn't meant to be a final/finished product. But then I log on this morning to see people basically saying what I did was crap.
@Seerah: Uhm... nope. What you did is not crap. And I do not see any post implying that. Sure hope my own post does not sound like it. :)
Btw, you mean the big one, called Logo_blue_new.gif? I gotta admit that I have to strain my eyes to see anything blue in it. It looks very dark and ornamental. I like that, btw. It implies "Ace" by the very fact that it is ornamental. Non-ornamental spades without an "A" do not look ace-ish IMO, since it's the same symbol you see on every spades card. An ornamental one you usually only see in the middles of the aces. (before anyone jups me: small ace, because I am talking about the cards, not the fframework)
And no, I wouldn't turn any spades symbol red. That would just look wrong.
Seerah! No don't think that, what you did was awesome and I really like them. I do think I kinda like the flowery style of the one on the front page as well. Do you think you could incorporate the flowery old world style feel of the one of the front page into the one you did?

But there is a question what for the new logo is necessary?

Web site logo:
"Other frameworks are futile! Your addons will be assimilated!"
Edit: Lest anyone think that I am anti-Ace3, please know that I have actually written an addon using Ace3. http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=11384.msg183066#msg183066

I've wanted my on WowAce/Ace coffee mug for a LONG time now. But we've never had good enough graphics to make it realistically doable.
Sign me up for one.

I did the original image so I'm allowed to reuse it. ^^
