Hi, I've noticed that 2 libraries were deleted from the trunk.
First it was PeriodicTable-3.0 and almost all addons were updated to use the 3.1 version (but outdated addon FuBar_TransporterFu wasn't updated)
Second deleted library was DogTag-1.0, but I haven't seen any updates to addons that uses it some of them I actively use without problems: Cartographer_NoteTarget and Sphere. There may be more addons affected.
Can you please update these addons to use newer libraries so we users can delete the two libraries from our addon list as well? Thanks.
I wish there was some kind of dependency tracker for addons on the trunk, so that people messing with libraries would know which addons may be affected.
Old lib versions deleted from trunk are usually removed because they weren't going to get any maintenance anyway. There's no harm in keeping the old libs on your system if your addons need them. Any addon which continues to rely on an outdated libs is most likely unmaintained itself, anyway.

Not necessarily-- in the case of Cartographer_NoteTarget, AFAIK, it just works. I run with everything disembedded, so I'm pretty confident it works with the newer libs, but perhaps I'm remiss in not updating the externals to keep up with the times. I guess I'm bastardizing a Tekkub guideline: if it works, why mess with it.
I see arrowmaster pointed the externals to tagged libs, but I'll go and make sure it works with the latest libs. No need to force people to load older versions.
Plus, like Ellipsis said, people might think the addon is dead. :P
When a new stable library version is out update your addon to work with that in your future stable release because;
1. It's the future of the library and thus it's part in your addon.
2. Given that everyone does this you will not load two or more versions of the same library.
3. It prevents having to rewrite your addon when your addon gets ancient. Why would you use a Pentium 2? It might work but its old.
I really wondered if I was the only person who did that. I was genuinely amazed the first time I saw someone wanting a calculator addon! (I'm not saying it's wrong, just that I always use my $1 handheld, so I never even thought about it.)

OK, I don't quite use a $1 one, I use my graphical Calc, because my old not -graphical one broke. So yes, I do that too. Though, a graph calc is a bit overkill LOL.
We're not always in game, Orionshock. If I am typing a MSWord document and I just need the result of some quick math (particularly say when drycoding addons), I'm not going to launch WoW or find the Start Menu to open Calculator just to do that. Much faster and more convenient to just grab that hand-held calculator without needing to alt-tab.
I use a hand held calculator, even when I am sitting right in front of the computer, to do simple math like 66 x 94 / (43 + 12).
Besides the point because I am talking about using something old to do something that something new undoubtedly can do better even though the old still works.
You can check http://files.wowace.com/ERRORS.txt every now and then to look for addons using externals that don't exist anymore and point the externals to tagged versions. Right now theres 2 addons looking for AceLocale-2.0 but I'm not going to touch them since that library has been dead for over a year.

Logic?
There are plenty of things that "work" but are still unmaintained.
