I'm buying a new monitor for a new system that I just purchased and I was wondering what would be optimal for WoW.
I'm currently using a 19" LCD at 1024x768 resolution and find that I don't have enough screen space for all the addons that I want to use. Should I go for widescreen? What size?
And just curious: what monitor do you have, and what resolution do you use?
22" 1680x1050 here. Those are almost cheapish now. Better for watching movies, too. Only thing I sometimes miss is that I cannot rotate the screen anymore. 1024x1280 with my old 19" was nice for reading large amounts of text at times.
20" 1680x1050.
the resolution is proably _the_ thing right now, both 20" and 22" is a good buy.
i would recommend the new samsung screens (they have both 20" and 22" out), they are good, they sell for a good price AND looks great on your desk.
i have two :)
Skimmed through all 10 pages and it's mostly about the 226bw, not the 206bw. The 226bw hasn't had the best of reivews.
*edit* The best suggestion on buying a new monitor is to see 'em in action with your own eyes. What looks vivid and full of detail to one person, can seem flat and lifeless to another.

That 226bw review is quite old (may 07), samsung have said all the new 226bw's made after july 07 are now S panels. So the bad colour quality/calibration issues they were having with some of the old ones are no more. I have two of them sitting side by side and they look fantastic.
Go for a 24" to get the jump in resolution from 1680 to 1920. It`s so worth it and they are cheap enough these days. Ofcourse you`ll need a computer that can handle gaming at the resolution :)
LCD monitors come cheaper than I ever thought. I was looking a couple weeks back, and you can pick up well-rated, 1680x1050 22" 2ms response time monitor for $250-$350.

I'm considering the (cheaper) Asus one in that list for a computer I'm (hopefully) building within a couple months.
Sadly, I live in EUrope, Belgium to be exact, where the stupid government feels we do need 3 different types, with check organs and all that shit. In short, we pay 21% and recycling taxes. And since they came along with the Euro, everything keeps going up in price (the cost of living in 2008 vs the one in 2008? Every family is paying at LEAST 400 more a month for food/electricity/water, that's nasty, knowing that paychecks aren't adapting as much (since THOSE indeces are calculated based on ALL consumer goods - the only ones that went down where cellphones and tvs, so paychecks stay roughly the same, but everything went up with half it's original price.)

I needed to get that out of my system.
And I too hope to build a new pc in a few months, saving for this one back in the day took me over a year LOL. But I made a mistake on this one, I just got *a* screen, LCD, didn't matter much which one to me, didn't know much about it. AG Neovo, while they do try, don't cut it - or at least not this one. Personally, I'll probably go for a 22" max, I've seen a 24" and it's HUGE - but I said the same about a 20" when I got this 17" :P I think I'd get the Samsung 226BW, or something.
