And here is the win statement, folks. :) If the above suggested methods do not suit you, then embedded libraries are for you. :)
OK, I have to say, when I saw this thread I assumed that only people who were using unembedded libs (which you generally do by choice - it's something that people who are aware of the factors involved decide to do after thinking about it (sometimes, yeah, I know :))). So, I'm not sure using embedded libs is an option. :)
Perhaps I'm being naive in my estimate of people's understanding. Oh well.

That's why I said "if the above methods do not suit you". ;)
This is from my sticky about embedded/standalone libs in the Updaters forum:
Stick with embedded libs if you...
* are not a developer
* only use a handful of addons
* don't feel comfortable dealing with libraries
* don't like having tons of extra folders in your AddOns directory
Everyone has a choice about which method (embedded v. standalone) they wish to use, but there *are* pros and cons of each.
As for moderating, I've tossed my hat in the ring before.
And this whole thread's topic is the 4th bullet there :)
As for moderation... okey I guess it's less of a call for having mod powers, and more of a request for the community as a whole to not feel bad about treating people who type like 12yo's as if they REALLY WERE 12 years old. Drama policy has kept flame wars down, but we still get the idiot from time to time that really just need to be smacked with a cluebat. Every time they post they are met with hostility and it just encourages them to be even more of an asshat... We need some nice policy on how to handle the "clueless children" when they post I guess.
I'm not implying anything about this thread, BTW, this all just poped up with the words "Idiocy" and "moderation" in the same sentence. :)
Maybe we need a new Seerah? I've been around answering questions for so long now (on both here and WoWI) that I've kinda lost my patience a little bit. :(
edit: or maybe I should just start swinging the clue bat... ;)
I'm all for heavy moderation, but I doubt Kael would ever go for it.
Take, for example, Elitist Jerks. Sure, they're jerks... but they keep the posters in line.
We need to give the mods some overcharged cattle prods.
I certainly don't mean moderate to the extent that EJ does, but right now basically the only moderation thats done is when things that particularly nasty. More like, at least don't let people get away with some of the high idiocy or lack of doing any sort of searching that goes on right now.

Yes, use the clue-by-four liberally. :D
In all actuality, there's enough information around here that you (and others) shouldn't have to personally explain every little thing or answer every little question. Beginners should really try to utilize the search function or the wiki pages before asking many of their questions. I lost my patience for cluelessness many years ago (obviously, I mean that on a grander scale than these forums).
I would also add that there's a difference between 'I read this and really don't understand, here are my questions' and 'How do I do <insert something found easily by searching here>.' If someone can't be bothered to look for info, I can't be bothered to answer with more than 'search for it'. Indy gives great replies to those folks. ;) However, someone who's done enough reading to be able to form coherent and relevant questions is another ballgame. There is some demonstration of willingness to learn, and a few minutes of time investment isn't so much wasted time.
Seerah, answering questions doesn't wear one out, it's answering the same ones over and over again that does. I know, I've been there *points at own post count*
The natural solution, of course, is a nice stickied FAQ... but everyone knows how well those work. If someone wants, however, we could start a FAQ wiki page and any time the questions pop up, we can just give the generic link-only reply. Works for me... I just don't feel like writing the page :)

It'd be nice if the forum layout wasn't horrible and you could easily tell whats stickied and isn't, a little icon that you never look at it isn't that useful or obvious.
I would like to be able to search within threads without having to use the original default forum layout. I almost feel sorry for people trying to search these forums for something, knowing how crappy it is.

I blame Kael.
But then, WoWI's search box is in a shitty place too...
We need more google main-page engineers around these parts :P
Edit: "you need this or you suck!"
Idiocy (and not searching) has to be moderated to remove 80% of the stuff, not dismebedding.

Who would you ask to be a moderator?

Give indie moderation, he'll solve everything.

Don't matter if you can tell it's a sticky :P
Heyyyyyyyyyy
That layout is so much better

Super fancy AJAX that becomes incredibly annoying?
