Oh the WMP fix? I was a bit skeptical when I saw that thread, thought it was a joke. I have yet to test it since I have been knocked out of WoW for that last three months due lack of $$$ issues. Tomorrow however...
1. You've had some noticeable performance drop from 2.2->2.3
2. You're using Windows XP and WMP 9 to 11.
3. You're using Vista and Real Player.
I did test it from a freshly booted PC and leaving 30' between logons
to make sure the character is disconnected completely.
(it's the same instruction you're given when copying to ptr or transferring,
about how long it takes the server to completely log you out)
The time it takes to authenticate when I submit the login info is reduced dramatically.. 1/10.
The loading time is reduced .. somewhat.
FPS and latency took some 50% improvement on 3 household PCs I tried...
but this is the least dependable observation as my connection is not exactly rock-solid,
the fluctuation might be within the normal variation I can observe in the day.
It was there though... from the usual 150ms to the 75-85ms range.

The world is ending, it must be a sign of the apocalypse if running an MS application IMPROVES performance.
Sum up my feelings for this fiasco completely though :)
Yea well, everything's MPEG-4 nowadays, all their "formats" are are wrappers around that that basically forces you into using their lame ass-software. Hell even DivX has their little stupid file format and their stupid little player. I know AVI isn't OMGPERFECT!, but at least damn near anything can open it. Just like ye olde MP3 files.
