I tried to find some DL link for oUF, tried also gcode but unfortunately I did not succeed.
Therefore can anyone post a link where I can DL oUF and some alternative layouts.

Click on the Source tab, then click on the Subversion Repository link. From there click on Trunk. Now you have two choices: You can download oUF using an SVN client or click on the oUF link then download all of the files inside. If you use the second method, you will have create a new folder called oUF (and inside that folder create another folder called) core, then move all of the files you just downloaded into that folder (ouf.lua goes into the core folder). This is currenly the only way to download oUF, although has Haste said previously, you may want to wait a couple of weeks.
Try mumble, idChat, uhm a chat addon that is text only. PhanxChat I believe does all three other then timestamps as well. ( I am most likely missing a few)
More: Minimalist (has very basic chat functions; what I use due to a couple other useful features in it), tekChat (off Tekkub's SVN), BasicChatMods (similar to tekChat; in a footprint fight, not sure who to put money on).
EDIT: forgot about SimpleChatMods. Virtually identical to BasicChatMods (Basic is a "stripped down" version of it), but slightly more features. Including a working "playernames.lua" module that colors player names by class in all locations.
You can disable the modules you don't want in all of tekChat, Simple & Basic by commenting them out in their TOC files; there are no ingame options for any of them.

I <3 oChat or idChat more.
I have used both evl's (have my own layout for it) and Haste's newer oUF, even though the evl fork has a tad more overhead (still infinitely less memory than most UFs out there... just slightly higher than Haste's current version) I find it easier to tweak. Then again that's the code I'm use to working in. I do like Haste's newer oUF though, but I'm waiting for him to to do a little more work on it. :)
Edit you can get a version of evl_oUF from my link below, just can't remember what version(s) of my UI use to use it :p
For chat I'm using Fane. I tried idchat but back then I couldn't figure out how to remove the timestamps (I don't like em) so went to minichat instead. I'm liking Fane, although minichat's autominimize function was pretty nifty.

im really not sure of what im gonna say but,
you just compared 3 addons that do totally different things.
Fane = modify the look of the chatframe tabs
Minichat = modify how the chatframe react
idChat = modify the output of the chat.
you could use the 3 at the same time without any problems.
Minichat is anything but minimal on footprint, the amount of garbage it creates is wrong. Like 10kbps when I removed it.
I play with Minichat for a bit, and I noticed the amount of garbage it created. Its a nice idea but I will not be using this mod anytime in the future.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you a lot, got it all working now.
