I am not an UBER Key Binder with spells bound to a mouse
Nor will I ever be
Yes I am Click caster
I target one mob and I focus target on another mob
I click my mouse on buttons on action bars to cast my spells
This is how it is, this is how it has always been, and this is how it will remain.
Is it possible with a Mod to simply;
Left Click and have my actions performed on My Target,
Right Click and have my actions performed on my focus?
I use macros with modifiers to perform actions on each target now but I would like to replace all the macros with 2 simple keybindings for 2 mouse buttons.
You most certainly may :-). Thank you for your attempt at assistance. I did view that discussion after my original search and before posting.
The Posters question in the BT3 thread is the same as mine however it was not answered...directions were given to bind spells to mouse buttons and that is NOT what I am looking for. I want to bind the [target=focus] command to my right mouse button... not individual spells.
I am always amazed at your skill and memory Seerah for keybinding, but as I said in my post... I'm not as UBER, nor capable for reasons I'd rather not discuss, and was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible and if so is there an addon that does this (binds the right mouse button to apply action bar CLICKS to my Focus Target, while left clicking will still apply them to my Target? My searches have come up empty on both accounts.
Click2cast or Clique, I don't remember which, will let you set the target with a left click and the focus target with a right click but thats not what I'm looking for.
If it is possible, but no addon currently does this, I would be highly interested in one that does whether that is a stand alone, click casting, or bar mod module. Is this a request for the addon ideas thread, or the Blizz suggestion forums for it to be opened?
Heh, I don't have that great of a memory for keybindings. My druid still has her healing spells on the bars in this order Rejuv, Healing Touch, Regrowth. They are in *that order* on the bars because they are in that order on my mouse for Clique. :) Shift-left, shift-middle, shift-right respectively. :) Then I don't forget what spell is bound to what click. I shift-left click for Rejuv on my frame, target frame, focus frame, party frames, etc.
/cast [button:2, target=focus] Super Awesome Spell
Just do that for all of your spells and you'll be set. There are probably addons that give you more macro slots, if you run out of space fast. I'm a mage and pretty much all of the spells I use are put into macros (some doing different things but most just) with [nochanneling] thrown in front.
Err... I think you mentioned you already knew how to do it with macros and needed an addon.
If that's what you meant, I don't think there is a mod that does this. I have a question, though: Why? Why replace the macros?
I do use macros currently. But your suggestion is simpler then the conditional macros I currently use and dislike for the additional reason that moving while pushing an additional key is at time problematic.
/cast [target=focus, modifier:ctrl] Curse of Tongues
/cast [nomodifier] Curse of Tongues
This is one I use alot on the run particularly on Fathom Lord as I'm renewing it then running back out of range and in range of the current kill target.
The macros take up macro space are are a pain to write for every spell... Affliction Lock ... many many spells I might want applied to a focus target...
Your macro suggestion would get rid of the extra keyboard key and do what i want, I'm going to rewrite my macros and give it a try... but I'd still like to regain the macro spaces.
Expanding on the idea of binding targets to mouse buttons
target of MT1 - 4 or Party members depending on Raid or Party would be nice in addition to focus giving 6 targets, with no need to retarget.
Saving someone who targeted the wrong mob in Heroics then becomes one right click instead of assisting to retarget before saving.
Think you can do something like that with Unitactionbars, you can set up the spells you want and just use it on focus target (iirc), then when you rightclick focus target you get a button for each spell you have added on the focus targetframe, just click the one you want to cast.
This will allow you to skip a step. If you right click, it'll throw that dot on your focus, if you left click it'll throw it on your target. If your target is a friend, it'll put it on your target's target. It'd get complicated if you want to do this without having to target whoever you're saving (doable but it'll be hard to do and to remember and thus I'd say not worth doing). If you wanted to you could try this too:
This'll allow you to (if you've focused a friend) apply dots to whoever they target with a right click but still allow you to apply dots the other way if you've focused an enemy.
EDIT: The stuff after #showtooltip is useful if you use your action buttons to see if your target is in range. Hit a modifier and it'll check the range on your focus (or focus' target -- in the second macro -- if your focus is friendly) and your target's target if you target a friend. All so you know if you're going to be able to cast your spell on them. The modifier is not needed to cast the spell -- just an easy way to check their range. ;)
