With regards to threat meters in 5 mans, I have an issue running a pug without omen. I have almost best in slot gear on every slot, on a rogue. Every tank, whether its a paladin, a druid, or a warrior generates threat differently, and it is hard to tell how much they are generating, especially if you have never grouped with them before. I can get an ss crit, sword spec crit, and be 1500 threat above a tank, which he isnt going to get back easily, unless I have a threat meter, or some indication I am near the tanks threat ceiling, so I can slow down. Grouping with people I always group with, and know how they play, is much easier, but in pugs, I live, and die by omen.

And pug tanks don't have taunt?
Threat meters are to BC what Decursive was in Vanilla WoW. People need to learn to control their aggro and if that means wiping 1 or 2 times extra to get a boss down then so be it. I have a sneaking suspicion Blizzard will impliment a threat warning into WoW Basic, possibly with a SCT warning.
An accurate threat meter is the single best thing coming out of this. I hope the additional overhead of that extra data doesn't cause any problems for the bandwidth-challenged though. I know it's only a small amount of additional text, but in a 25 man raid with multiple targets it adds up pretty fast.
I'd wager that the bandwidth impact from this will be just about 0, since the client already has most of the info they're gonna give us access to.
Guilds can beat every content available without Threatmeters so there is nowhere a need for them.
I agree that some classes have it easier on aggro with a threatmeter like Shadowpriest/DPS Warrior/Warlock/(Balance Druid/Retripala?) and maybe some other specs, but they arent in anyway dependent on that you can always watch your dmg and listen to your tank check his rage bar etc. etc.
Every other spec has a way to either completely drop aggro (FD/Vanish/Invisibility...) and/or talents to reduce threat(temporary) or skills to reduce threat(Feint/Soulshatter...).
If your tank isnt totally sleeping or there are some aggro drops(they are normally named the same/similiar or have a knockback effect) every class should have no problem atall to dps without gaining aggro without any threatmeter...maybe you arent dpsing 100% effective as you would be with a threatmeter, but tbh in the end these maybe 100k dmg less the raid does doesn't really matter, if the fight is not a completly dps race(where you can normally go all out anyway).
The problem with the Threat meter problematic is even if Blizzard wanted to it would be impossible for them to make the Data for Threatmeters unaccessible/undistributable without fucking like dozens of other non threatmeter like Addons that just arent doing any harm...

What about adding a few randomness in generated threat ? I mean like they added some randomness in some boss event timers to render bossmod timers inaccurate.
(BTW, I don't have anything against or pro the use of threat meters, at my level I find them useful but not needed.)
Why would they do that ? They are fine with threatmeters and they even announced at blizzcon that a "basic" threatmeter will get included in the standard ui.
Only good thing I can see coming out of that is them actually exposing the threat mechanics via API so the real threatmeters don't have to guess so much, heh.

That's never gonna happen.

Plus, it'd make boss encounters even more reliable on luck.
That's never gonna happen.
