For some reason I believe that my UI is bigger than it used to be (and a lot of stuff were moved around). Like, for example, I used to be able to have 3 bags in a single column, but now only 2 fit on each column. The same thing happens when you press the character viewer dialog.
That and the chat dialog, the combat dialog, and a couple of addons were on different places (like moved?).
Oddly enough, I didn't use UI Scale but I had to drop mine to .9 to get everything the size it was before the patch. Might be a large resolution tweak or somesuch... or just an weird glitch on my end.
I don't scale my UI either and also noticed things had "grown". I didn't try bumping down my UI scale tho, I just took this opportunity to rebuild my UI. Thanks for the heads up on simply bumping down the UI to fix, in case I go to backup.
The 2.2.0 Patch introduced changes to improve the way windows resolutions are handled.
The WoW client now automatically resizes windows to maintain aspect ratios.
So if you are in windows mode and and have the same resolution set in game as you have for your windows desktop the window will be slightly re-sized to fit into the space allowed above the task bar. This eliminates stretching and distortion that occurred when windows were filling the available space.
If you do not have UI scaling turned on your UI elements should stay relatively the same size when switching resolutions, you can use the UI slider to adjust the size to your needs.
For those of you pointing out that your view does not change when you switch resolutions, that is because it should not. If you are switching between two resolutions with the same aspect ratio ( for example 1440x900 (Wide) to 1680x1050 (Wide) ) your view will not change you will just get a higher image quality. The only time your view should change is if you switch between a wide screen and a non-wide screen resolution.
The UI Scale setup was reset so if you had a scale < 1, everything appear bigger. I had that problem to :-).
Why on earth would they do that? That just messes with UIs.
Luckily I have mine set in a personal script of mine to avoid having config corruption mess me up. =) Should try that if you're overly attached to your UI.
That's not it though, as someone else said I too don't use the global UI scale at all and yet nothing quite fits any more. This is really frusttrating since i'll have to reallign everything on my screen now. I'm running on 1280x1024, hardly an usualy resolution though maybe anything non-4:3 got affected by this.

Basically yeah, it was a "fix" that applies to widescreen resolutions only.

Just type:
/console uiscale .9
Then reload your UI and problem is solved.

I moved a few bits around and resized them as needed (wanted to avoid the global rescale), took me a while but it's all good now.
