just don't ... don't... i've seen this before, just don't it won't help and won't do anything productive. let it be about his delusions and afterwards we can move on.
The same discussion over and over again...why do you even bother?
It's not as if it is any difference to you on what kind of framework the addons you use are based on. Just try to convince yourself that CKKnight knows what he's doing, the Ace3 team knows what they are doing...just install the addons you want to use, let the libs from auto dependencies roll by and don't worry...
Well actually it does make quite the difference. When you run addons based on multiple frameworks then those frameworks will most likely use their preferred set of libraries. So when multiple frameworks use 2 different libraries which are doing the same stuff essentially, then code from those libraries will obviously register for the same event handlers, creating "duplicate" handlers, each running their code, to accomplish the same stuff.
Given that those two libraries actually do the same things this amount's to a 100% increase in impact on CPU and memory usage. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Essentially what I'm saying is that two frameworks might use code that does the same stuff, increasing load on CPU and memory to a point where performance isn't acceptable anymore. And from my observation so far this actually hold's true because my game runs with +10 to +15 frames per second as soon as I disable all of CKKs addons, especially in a raid situation.
So to me as an end user, what you're saying is just not true as long as my FPS graphs don't prove otherwise.

yes, considering that is how bliz intended it to be run anyways. have you ever looked at their frameXML code... god it's all over the place with frames and event handlers... IMHO bliz should pay the wowace site and convert the base UI over to use a framework

Well I'd just be a happy kid if you guys would stick to how you used to go about all this (read: work together) instead of branching off in two or three different directions. I mean if I browse my interface folder and look at the code of some of those libraries I just can't see how this recent move of yours should *not* impact performance.
I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do. However, telling people that it doesn't matter what framework their addons use is just wrong. It does matter. Otherwise my game would be running at the same fps rates it used to with newer addon versions. Sadly it doesn't. And if I look at all those new libs and their code I guess I really don't need any explanation as to why that's the case.
Is there an actual thread where I can comment on Rock? (And yes I searched I found this thread instead...)
Speaking as one of those users, I don't much care about ace, ace2, ace3, rock or anything much else. I use what works and works the way I want. If most of the addons I use (fubar, pitbull, cartographer) came out in swahili or something then I'd just use that framework.
Besides rock is better than those damn dewdrop menus, go d how I hate those. :(
what did i say? this thread got mod'ed

Nope. There's an entire sub-forum. http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?board=66.0
