I'm looking for some suggestions on what my script(addon) memory should be. With the new incremental garbage collection, would it be reasonable to drop that number down? I normally load up with ~20-25mb of addon usage. I currently have it set to the default 48, which is doing fine atm, but when i start creeping up to the high 30's I start freaking out and force a GC. When does the incremental GC start kicking in?
I have both Ace'd and non-Ace'd addons. I can provide a list if that would help with your suggestions.
What should your memory be at? Depends on your actual memory in your PC.
If you have at least 1 gig. Id set the allowed memory at 0, and let your UI use what it needs.
On my system I have 2 gig of memory, and usualy run between 25 - 40 mb of memory usage as per PerformanceFu. If I hit the Auction house, my memory usage goes up to 90 MB, as I use auctioneer, and have alot of historical data.
May I suggest, just let it creep.... Untill you feel there is an issue of lag caused by it. Or just ride the way till the system GC's itself a few times and see if you notice any real issues.
Again, if you got 1GB of ram and your mods are not increasing your memory and an alarming rate... then just ride the wave.
Total amount of memory used is fairly benign and doesn't mean a whole lot of anything. The only worrying thing is how much memory increases per second, which honestly in combat tends to increase exponentially even with no addons at all, yay blizzard ui :p heh.
I float around 30-32ish but I have a massive ace ui, with cartographer with over 1k nodes, and I load swstats also.
