Custom is a small addon which, at the moment, just handles the upper and lower textures. I'm planning on expanding it to provide assistance to get rid of FlexBar - the only thing I need it for is a range check on Auto Shot for my Hunter. Visor can do everything else I need already.
AcePlayerGrid has been modified to have Player, Party 1, Party 2, Party 3, Party 4, Target and Target's Target along the top and the pets on the second row. The pet windows have been made smaller and transparent.

Good that you dont host the mods you use on your site yourself, but link to the websites to where the authors have given permissions to have the addons hosted on (or have uploaded themselves).
Edit: And you forgot to mark idChat as an ace addon
sorry about that... I just corrected it on my website... in fact restructured to put all the ACE mods in one area. Just for personal visual appeal. Fixing it in above post as well now.
Good that you dont host the mods you use on your site yourself, but link to the websites to where the authors have given permissions to have the addons hosted on (or have uploaded themselves).
Been a long time since I felt snubbed like that =\
Good that you dont host the mods you use on your site yourself, but link to the websites to where the authors have given permissions to have the addons hosted on (or have uploaded themselves).
So there are actually addon authors that dont like if their addons are available from other web pages than the ones where they have uploaded it themselves?
Of course there are some reasons to only have them available where the author themeselves upload them. e.g. old versions or verisons that have been modified by someone else to do actions not wanted, e.g. deleting all your equipment etc... (Amazing that we have not seen this yet).. but why else would anyone go mental over if someone hosted the addons.
I know some authors got mad when Curse had their addons available, but hopefully the result was that people boycotted that addon when the author began talking about copyright and whatnot. Its addons for a game ffs, not like you're gonna make money from it (even though one tooltip author attempted it, and as a result people moved onto something else).
So there are actually addon authors that dont like if their addons are available from other web pages than the ones where they have uploaded it themselves?
Yep
A well known author just asked us at ui.worldofwar.net to remove all his mods because we approved a "Spanish Translation" of one of his mods. Claimed we were infringing on his "Copyright stated in the text file" or something like that.
Believe me, I know a helluva lot of work goes into mods, but condescending elitist authors really need to get out more. (This is not referring to this lone incendent or author, just a general statement).
I wouldn't like it if an addon I did were uploaded somewhere else. Not because I want control, or feel my rights are infringed upon, but because I think it's bad for the users. Someone who downloads an addon from a site the author didn't upload it to runs the risk of having an out of date addon, or in the extreme case one that's been modified by someone else maliciously. I don't think I'd ever go so far as to tell someone to remove it, I just don't think it is actually a good thing overall. Well unless it were on wowguru, they day anything I do goes to support that site you'll be getting requests from the devil to help shovel snow.
If it's not obtained from a place where you can interact with the author its is not a place where the addon should be, or where you should get it. Software is software and to ensure quality you still want your addons to be downloaded from where you put it.
If it's not obtained from a place where you can interact with the author its is not a place where the addon should be, or where you should get it. Software is software and to ensure quality you still want your addons to be downloaded from where you put it.
What do we do when an addon or its author cease to host or cease to update the addons? Forget they ever existed?
If any author wants me to cease hosting thier work please let me know. I'll gladly make it so that it can't be downloaded.
However you have inspired me to provide links to the originals if they are still available. if the addons are no longer available like Rownes work for instance. Well I can't help that.
Sorry for hijacking a cool thread. Back to our normaly scheduled programing.
You've actually hit one one of the problems, Mokaikai. There is a difference between an actively supported addon, and an abandoned one. You'll hear complaints often from different people and sites where a user believes an addon isn't getting updated because they didn't get it from somewhere that the addon author is supporting. That's not the user's fault, well actually it isn't anyone's fault, it's just what happens.
Addons that are no longer supported are a different case, as far as I'm concerned they pass into the public domain as soon as the author doesn't want to do anything with it anymore. Mind you that really is up to the individual author whether that is the case or not, someone can say they don't want anyone else to touch their code. I just don't believe in that sort of thing. :)
