i know some of you guys are pretty good web guru's so figured i'd ask here if anyone knows of a good package i can host on my web server that will allow users to connect to an irc server/channel.
i'm a server admin - not much of a programmer at all so it would need to be something fairly easy to configure.
so far everything i've found though, either doesnt work properly (my web host uses mod_gzip and mod_security) on the streaming portion or other clients like the java ones dont have any nice options, or the applet is like...200x400 - very tiny size :)
so far i like pjirc the best but i'm having a hard time figuring out to make it do what i want.
ultimately i'd like to put a single link on my homepage, maybe on the forum and have that link take the user to an undernet server and sign him in with his phpbb username and join the preconfigured channel. doing it for my guild so we can have a place to chat out of game/during work/school/etc.
that's actually teh first one i tried, cgiirc! but it doesnt seem to be compatible with my webhost, Dreamhost.com.
i've done all the troubleshooting and it's the Streaming portion that's broken. install, configuration, signin all goes great but then i cant see anything in the web browser as far as chat. wheni type /quit, THEN all the text shows up >.>
according to cgiirc it's a streaming problem but i dont know how i can disable mod_gzip and mod_security (cgiirc's troubleshooting suggestions) without my host getting mad :O
hm.. as i solve problems by looking up info when i run into the problem
and do not learn how to solve them if i do not think i will run into them
anytime soon, i fear i have not a clue nor any suggestion for you :|
