I've often noticed that the circular thing beneath Thunder Bluff, near the lifts looks very much like a podium/dance-floor, this gives me ideas. In fact, it's left me with a bit of an ambition that might just come to fruition -- at least, if I can pester my friends into it and one already likes the idea.
You see, we have Ascendant, do we not? It's fun when one person uses Ascendant but what about multiple people, where the timers are triggered to kick in as if in response-to and exposition. It would have to be written very carefully but I'm thinking that it would be an absolute blast to convert one of history's great plays to Ascend.
Then, I'd gather up those friends, we'd all trigger Ascend and the fun would begin. If I manage to gather enough recruits, I'll let you all know so you can all come and watch (at least, those of you on the US servesr) because honestly, I don't think there's ever been anything like this in Azeroth and without ambition, there might never be.
I vote yes, and make it into a video so everyone can go "ZOMG THAT PWNS HOW DO I DO THATZ!?!?!?!?!?!" and then we link to this forum and BAM we take over the world with the mass amounts of ace people we have gathered!!!!!
It'd only be a good video though if everyone had a videocapture system that didn't take up 200MeB of hard drive space for five minutes (like FRaPS does). If anyone can recommend a good video-capture system, preferrably open-source, then let me know. I already have VirtualDubMod to handle the video-editing, we just swap between the zoomed characters at the oppurtune points, supply some music and bam, instant Warcraft opera.
I use gamecam for video capture - though I've not used it recently, it didn't seem overly bloated - I'd have to check.
Oh, can I suggest that re: timers - you don't use timers because lag could ruin all the hard-work.
As you're scripting everything let people set their "role" in the 'play' (/theatre set Horatio) and then the script lines assigned to horatio would kick in after the preceeding line matches from anyone else within /say range.
You just need to hook incoming chat that way too, though that'll be an awfully long script table ;)
