and tbh... who really cares what framework an addon uses... your likely not a coder (implying that adv users and devs do care) - granted you might have to clean up your UI after moving over (read tweak) .. but being able to read and understand English should be enough to accomplish that (IE Errors that bug sack pukes out)
"The overall goal is disconnect the libraries from the addon when it comes to the user. They shouldn't CARE what is in it, they should care that the non-library code is well written."
Also, you try not saying 'fk' once after 3 days of complete 'rock' spam posts, trying to keep this forum in order is like a full time job.
I'm sure most of this new rock thing will be assembled from now on, but i though "you were prepared" for these not-so-friendly posts.
Rock isn't a community project at all, its done by ckknight and he decided to release the addons all of a sudden, so there wasn't really much preparing to do.
I have converted most of YssGuildShop to rock (only use ace for the fubarplugin) why the change? RockComm fixed an error that happened from time to time in AceComm which hasn't been fixed since i reported it (even made a simple addon that would cause the error).
So far smooth sailing in the Rock world i guess. Gonna see what Ace3 brings along and switch to it if it means improving my addon.

How are we supposed to not care about libraries when my addon spams me with errors and as soon I as install librock it's all fine. I mean, how should I know that as an end user?

Well that is the addon developers fault. In this case the developer happens to be the library developer too. But if you see that developer as two persons, it was the addon one that made something wrong.

I've been plagued by the same error for months, reported on numerous occasions too...
I guess it's just a coincidence that AceComm and LibRockComm have the same author ^^
By Nickenyfiken's logic ofc it's entirely plausible that Ckk's Ace2 split personality is at fault here, where his Rock "side" is working as intended...
Who said Rock isn't developed by a community.. just that community lives in one person.
Mods that don't use the Ace framework are still allowed to exist on the Wowace SVN server. (Which, by the way, is very generous, especially since all the increased traffic with the updaters).
Thanks for the list, at least I know now, which addons to drop from my collection and replace with Ace2 ones...
I still do not understand why people acts like this. Rock is as good as any Ace/Ace2 addon, uses that same small memory amount as any Ace/Ace2 addon, so why is all this flame worth?!
Rock is not Ace? Nope, so what? It works as good as any other Ace -- if not better than, in some cases.
So, feel free to drop and replace any Rock/Ace/Ace2/Discord/whatever framework-based addon you have, or way better yet, try to do one for yourself. Then you could remember how good was that mod you dropped because 'it wasn't Ace'.

Wow. I don't even know what to say to this.
Either educate yourself in what Rock and Ace2 actually are, or completely disregard them both and just use the mods you like because it makes no difference to you.

Maybe they just don't like the config screen of rock. For myself i don't care at all what framework is used by my addons since it have no direct impact on me anyway but I care about having my addons working in the way I want, I was happy with the right click config menu so I simply put carto and pitbull in ignore list for wau and it is done. I don't understand all these hate posts here and there, just keep the old version if you don't like the new one and you are done...
btw I hope Ace3 won't go for a full gui config screen as I find a simple dropdown menu is far more handy when doing a small specific change, especially when you notice a change to do and needs it done during a fight.

:Edited for kindness; sorry funkydude
My UI is fine, it's just that I wanna know if my errors are related to Rock or not. Apparently they are.
People like me care, thanks. Nice to see the fractious attitudes over here haven't diminished in my absence.
I do - looking at working addons is the best way to learn how to work with the framework.

You see, is quite hard to teach new tricks to an old dog.

Back to topic, maybe things can be easier with screens. You know, an image is worth 1k words ;)
Bring up pros and cons, and people should stop barking.

You all better be clicking that add every time you start up WAU.... Though it still doesn't cover the cost of this site.
