Hi there! I'm new, but I'll be honest that I don't have the foggiest about how to program an addon. I wish to learn, and will do so.
But for now, I'm actually looking for an addon, or someone who can help me.
I'm a WoW RP'er, and about a year back, I got into contact with someone that used an addon named 'PrivateParty' in order to play out shady deals behind closed doors. I wanted to get my hands on it as well, seeing it as a very nice tool to do this kind of RP with our thieves guild, without 'meta-gamers' poking in their ugly noses, but without the quality of the RP dropping due to ugly party-chat text.
What it did, was make it possible to speak in party-chat as if using /say, /emote or /yell when one would turn it on with /pp on. (which, according to my friend, made it clash with PallyPower).
It would appear as follows:
*Trollboy looks at Trollgirl. *[Trollboy] says: 'ello there, womon. *Trollgirl looks back at Trollboy. *[Trollgirl] yells: YOU BE DI ONE DAT ATE ME RAPTOR!!
Like said, the addon would show the -Party Chat- like that, with a '*' infront of it to indicate one was speaking in (Private)Party. Those who stood close by could, ofcourse, not hear the ones speaking in party chat this way.
If one wouldn't have the addon, or wouldn't have it turned on, it would look a littlebit like this:
[Trollboy]:[e]looks at Trollgirl
[Trollboy]:[#s#]'ello there, womon.
[Trollgirl]:[#e#]looks at Trollboy.
[Trollgirl]:[#y#]YOU BE DI ONE DAT ATE ME RAPTOR!!
I'm not saying the tags before the message looked -exactly- like that, but something like that would appear, and I remember the 'e', 's' and 'y' would be in the tag as well. The floating text bubbles would show that as well, wether you had it turned on or not, or had the addon, while one of your party members used it.
After some research, it appears to have been on Curse.com a while back, and was created by someone named 'uveX'. My friend said that the addon broke a lot of patches ago. I never got my hands on it again.
Some said it was illegal, some said it was fine. I wouldn't know. It doesn't truly affect the way WoW functions, it only improves the RP experience as far as I could understand.
Lately, the ingame thieves guild is active again after a long break, but either folks don't have it anymore or people have it, but it doesn't work anymore, so sadly, the 'behind closed doors' chat is ugly blue once more, and since all seem to detest it... we barely have the cool meetings we used to have.
I don't know about this add-on, but I can tell for sure that it's not "illegal" (meaning not against Blizz chart).
Also, I couldn't find it on google, if you could upload it on the internet somewhere, it's often easier to correct a code for a small addon that to recreate it from scratch.

Oh, much appreciated :)
I'll see if I can get my friend to give it to me (if he still has it) and upload it somewhere.
Shouldn't take too long before I can point it out!
The addon works fine enough, apart for one thing: Long message splitting, it just doesn't do it no matter what I have tried, and frankly it is quite annoying as I use paragraphs to roleplay with from time to time, any possible fix or reason why this happens?

Did it ever do message splitting or merging or whatever it is you want it to do?
Keep in mind that's not my addon and I don't really intend to adopt it.
I just fixed whatever was making it break in WoW 5.x, didn't add functionality, didn't remove functionality. :)

It used to I'm certain, but it could be that it was broken already before, actually now that you mentioned it I recall it might've broken already before you made this version that supports 5.0.5 even, which is by the way awesome, thanks!

PrivateParty addon
On beforehand, thank you!
In the future, don't bump your posts. I guarantee this thread was still on the first page.
Allright, sorry about that <=)
It doesn't crash, but I couldn't test it because it works only on english clients. Tell me if there's any problems.
As a side note, RP is so much better when it's shared...
We're testing it as I write this. There seemed to be a clash with a chat-addon named 'Prat', but after turning that off, there was perfection :)
Thank you so much, Nodd! :D
If it was wrong of me to bump this thread, I apologise. ^^
Thank you! <3
Now I'm confused...
Two posts above yours say "it's working great with 5.0.4", so which is it?
