Well I have an add-on idea that I thing would be fun.
I must say i'm a big user of 'real' wow game add-on and appreciate the hard work and dedication involved in making them. I've been a software engineer for 15 years. So if you respond and say 'Well do it yourself', i'd respond. OK. But experience with the Wow API will take a bit of a learning curve. I've read of the VS Shell IDE that may help a bit, but NotePad++ would be fine for me. So if someone wanted to give me a code snippet to get started that would be cool.
Anyway, if someone is in my group/raid i'd love to be able to make everyone do an emote. Like /roar, /dance. I can image blizzard blocking the ability of doing this. I know if i exposed an api to the public, i would block this.
So traverse through the character list and trigger some kind of emote event or something close to that for each character.
local f = CreateFrame("Frame")
f:SetScript("OnEvent", function(self, event, prefix, message, channel, sender)
if prefix == "RemoteEmote" then
In practice, you would want to make sure the message was a valid emote token, and that it was sent by someone you wanted to let cause your character to perform emotes.
So my idea is to have a guild only add-on. Where we could make our raid member do an emote or /say /yell something we type in the console. Of course you can turn it off. But a kind of cool prank / in guild fun.
