Hello. Recently I had an idea for a Light of Dawn addon that I think will be very useful in attempting to maximize throughput. I hope that I can articulate this idea as well as what's present in my head, hoping that it's even possible to do. So here we go.
As we all know, LoD currently has a very narrow angle and it's range on who it can hit is shorter than the rest of our heals. I'm wondering it's it's possible to have a box on my screen, or just a number running all the time on who is in range to be hit with LoD. For example, say I am facing melee and there are 8 people in front of me within the 30yd range and within LoD's cone. The addon would display the number 8. Now lets say one of those melee goes beyond the 30 yard radius or steps out of the angle LoD can hit, the number would instantly go down to 7. In a way it is sort of like a range checker with angle restrictions (if that's even possible).
It's quite clear but addons no longer have access to camera functions so there's no way to know what/who is "in front" of your char and who not.
For the range part most contemporary raidframes have range-checking so you can see who's further than 30yards
(they can't and I don't think it's even possible to tell you which of those in-range characters you are facing)
HudMap does all of this stuff (determining where other players are relative to you, which way you're facing, who's in the area of effect for various spells, etc.). If you need examples, you should take a look.
