it is allways good to know is ppl r cabable to join for example 25man naxx
so why not make ingame be.imba? it is works whit inspect too would be so cool :D
The ranking of be.imba is dodgy. Once ppl wear resiliance gear it says 'caught in pvp gear' - even if it was best in slot for PvE.
It complaines about hit rating (shadow focus < 5/5) even if the current equipment exceeded the hit rating required. It maybe a 'house number' for the general orientation, but i have seen a guild sticking hard to it and simply evaluation new members based on the judgement of the site - and not in-game abilities.
A in-game mod might have the same pitfalls. For the addon to be accurate it would have knowledge about every spec and their special itemization (where this logic is usually done by simuators / spreadsheets / ...).
If you simply want to rate items you might want to look at pawn.
Yeah, but I'm sure there's level 79's that can raid with the 80's or even some 75's.
There is a huge difference between 1200 spellpower on a fresh 80 and a 2000 spellpower with best enchants epiced out 80, that is what the site is trying to point out, and plot a player between that scale.
It isn't about level 79s.
However, it fails to account that most decent raiders account for raid buffs such as improved FF/Misery and plan their gear around that to give less hit%. For example, it says i'm under hit cap by 1.3% as a mage, but in reality I'm over hit cap by 1.7% as we always have a shadow priest.
It also says that the 6 mp5 enchant on my chest is "improper" and "misenchanted", when it's a mere 2 less mp5 than the level 80 version, the mats are way cheaper, and my chest piece is nowhere near best-in-slot. :(
I wouldn't try to use be.imba.hu as a "hard" number.
It is useful for noticing silly omissions (like inactive metas).
My main use for it is as a ballpark figure to keep fresh 80s out of raid zones
until they have spent a week:
- getting a few nice blues crafted.
- running some high level 80 dungeons and / or heroics for drops.
- doing the high level group/dungeon quests that reward them good quality rare items.
The score we use in my guild roughly corresponds to ilvl187 or 200 rare quality items in every slot,
but is more forgiving than the "Superior" achievement as it allows a BC epic or even an LK uncommon in one of those hard to upgrade slots early on (like trinket, ring etc) and you will still pass the bar for entry to 10man raid content.
It's a way of saying "do a little work to get entry level raid gear" and "don't expect to be boosted in greens"
be.imba shouldn't be relied on as an ABSOLUTE, but it is a good starting point. Something like that ingame would be useful; almost as useful as RatingBuster or Pawn.

well, suck less OLOLOLOLO
no but really, it's an indicator to get better and it seems to do its job ;D
I might be a little late in on this conversation... But as an avid raider and someone who leads a lot of pug raids an in-game imba-like addon would be perfect in speeding up my evaulation of pugees.
No need to harp on the website. it's implementation is a little short, but the concept is great and possible to execute very well.
I am interested in knowing a few things when I evaluate a player for raid:
1) have they taken the time to socket/enchanter properly
2) are the spec'd right
3) are the focusing on the right areas gear wise (hit caps, stat order etc.)
An imba-like mod has a LOT to offer in this category that something like gearscore will always fall short on.
Thanks for using your time to post. I know be.imba, but to type in every name before raid, and with the lousy loadingtimes on EU, imba isn't an option.
That's why I'm asking for an addon, just to check if an item is enchanted or not.
A new addon (or a plugin to an existing one) that replicates be.imba.hu functionality in-game would indeed be nice.
I'm not aware of such atm but regarding be.imba itself if you open a free account you can choose to create guild-wide reports (with rank filter as well).
Same goes for wow-heroes.com that also seems to be more responsive than be.imba atm.

This. It says this "audit a character, guild or group" on the second line of the be.imba.hu webpage.
Please try to use the search tool.... This has been asked many times before.... Not only will it get you an answer/more information much faster, it also centralizes all the posts on a given thing in 1 place..
I.e. if instead of 2-3 ("in game imba") posts with 1 or 2 replies every couple weeks, we had 1 post that had 57 replies, and more importantly 100's of views, (i.e the same post was always/mostly used) it might help people realize how popular the idea is, and might help in getting a developer to look into it.

something like this?
be.imba.hu
Edit: better pic
How so? The site's purpose is solely to gauge max-level characters for their raiding suitability.

That's news to me. We tried to get a lvl79 into 10 and 25 man Naxx, and it did not work.

Haven't had the luck of finding any addon to use. Does such exist or do a bright guy want to create it, I will gladly help with the functionality?
It's not an addon, its a webpage

How about rewriting Fubar_GearRating?

That and lootcouncil...
Maybe this project be split up, so that in time it will become ingame imba, but to start with it could have the most usable options.
Can it really be? There are so many ppl developing, that no one wants to create something quite usable like this.
