Actually, i'm seeing a little problem - the icons for the dungeons seem to be off, for instance "The Nexus" isn't at Coldarra, but in the Borean Tundra (i know that techicanlly Coldarra is part of the boring tundra, but its not the right place) and "Ahn'kahet" is over Wyrmrest temple.
Yes, remember these are only quick fixes until ckk gets back to it, if he ever does. Who knows.
Sadly, i've had to stop using it myself, as there is a major memory issue with it right now. It goes something like this:
When you're low level, just starting, there is no problem as it's not populating the maps with POIs in the unexplored areas for some reason. Trying it on a high level, where all the maps have been explored, it processes ALL the POIs and, guessing an update problem somewhere, it almost brings the game to a standstill. And that is with all other addons disabled.
Mine usually runs at around 1.1 Gb fully loaded. With Carto3, it pumps it right up to 1.8 Gb. I'm guessing it hits the limit there, and starts paging it to disk, with the resulting game-stopping lag it causes.
Would be nice if he does get back to it. I'm sure I can whip up a few decent modules for it... :p
How can I change Cartographer to remove the brown borders around an area. It isnt the same thing as the non explorerd areas, (which is turned off so that I can see them) If I change it so that the map is only like 50% visable, I can see the stuff behind the brown texture blocking the area.
Thanks for this, everything seems to be fixed except that when i join a battleground i can't see the others raid players on the map... Am i the only one? If not can you fix this plZ
Edit:
It's ok i made a fresh install and everything is working.
thanks for the patch, really helped with dalaran.
but i found a bug:
zul'drak, sometimes the top half of the zone map turns into unexplored, even if im currently in that area. the only way to fix it is to zoom out, then scroll over another zone to reveal that zones map then scroll back to zul'drak.
I've had a look at the problem that several people, myself included, have with the map borders from one zone encroaching on another zone.
Unfortunately, this is a problem with the Blizzard sub-zone textures and alpha channels. (Note that Cart3 uses only the sub-zone textures, never the unexplored zone textures that you see on the zone map). To fix this issue properly would mean copying the map textures and ensuring the cross-border areas are fully transparent in the alpha channel. I'm not sure how Blizz would look on distribution of modified assets. The alternative is to build all the map textures from scratch, which I reckon is at least 2 months full-time work per locale...
One possible workaround would be to ensure that only the current zone is displayed when it's the only one in the window (e.g. if you double click in the zone), but it's not ideal.
I did the patches... Picked "overwrite". I can see instances in Northrend but not Dalaran. What did I miss?
I did not use fan update, took the original Cartographer3 from Curse.
i also got "cannot open error" Just simply downloaded again and was able to open ;D!. So it seems the archive can get corrupted on download.???
did the instructions, tried it 5 times. downloaded clean copy of cart 3, install a then b and then dalaran map. i get just cart 3 with no instances..help pls
