What I want to find is just an addon that will (when commanded) search through my bags (inventory only) and dump any grey (and useless) items that I have in my bags. if it wants to tell me what I am dumping I am fine with that, it could even pop up the darn "wanna destroy forever" warning if it wants (but would be totally super if it didnt).
The whole thing is I am getting tired of looking through my bags while questing to try and find extra space in them by deleting my grey items. I would much rather tell that troll (or gnome for allies) to sift through my bags for me.
and before you mention them:
garbagefu - never could get the hang of this addon, plus I dont want a list, I want a dump option, and I couldnt find one in this program
autoprofitx - if the option to dump items at someplace other than a vendor exists in this addon I would totally love you for pointing it out to me. I love the whole exceptions list of this addon and with an update was forced to temporarily use another addon to replace the autosell funtion, I thought I would die during those few days.
again, I dont want something that will sell items of grey color to a vendor, I want something simple that will drop items of grey color out in the wild and please do feel free to point me in the correct direction if one exists, my little search troll needs some guidance
I know I'm going to sound like a total asshole, but...
* Install an autoseller
* Visit vendors every time you see them, even if you don't think you have anything to sell off
* Buy bigger bags (seriously, 16-slots are cheap these days)
* Stop carrying around shit you do not use on a daily basis. If you are not going to use it today, bank it. If you're not going to use it within a month, sell it. It's easy to say "oh I might need that someday"... but it's just as easy to buy the item when you need it, and gold doesn't take up any bag space. Only hold on to unique or hard to obtain items, auction off all that other crap.
It's hard to do, but you can fight the packrat urges. I have to do it every single day. I've not run out of bag space in months, nor have I had to drop any items.
On my us account, I had 5 chars, with all bank slots bought and filled with 16 slot bags (except profession bags, then I got the 20 slot ones) and I struggled for any bank space at all. Then you get to a point where you say "screw it" and clean it out more.
the problem I have is with my hunter, who mines - one profession bag, which gets used a lot; as well as a ammo bag, also used a lot, but leaves little space for actual loot, luckily I dont need to carry around any extra armor, but with all the darn quest items on the isle, food for the pet (i just buy enough for both of us, same stuff, roasted clefthoof is yumyum) and water, I have maybe a total of 10 slots left >_<
We understand you. You just don't like the answer we're giving you, so you're ignoring it.
I was grinding Motes of Shadow this morning on my hunter. Like you with Quiver and mining bag, I've only got 3 bags to work with. I'm lazy so I even keep my raiding food/pots/etc on me all the time. So, I started off with 14 free slots. Flew over to Oshugun and started doing laps. When my bags got full, I used GarbageFu to drop the item with the lowest value (which isn't always a grey item). Repeat until there aren't any items you are willing to drop. Fly to town, use mailbox to ship all the good stuff off to my AH/Bank mules. Repair. Fly back to Oshugun and repeat 3 more times. I got my 10 Primal Shadows with 4 trips to town/mailbox.
The benefit of dropping one item at a time is simply making more money. There are going to be times where you finish your "day" and head back to town with grey items in the bank. Simply dropping all grey items each time your bags fill up isn't a good answer. Dropping items that you could sell is throwing money away. Dropping the item that is worth the least each time is the smart answer.
Many times a stack of grey items is worth more than a stack of 1 or 2 white items. Depending on what you are grinding on, it may be worth more to keep the "drops alot" grey items and drop the "rarely dropped" white items in terms of maximizing your return.
Why the hell do you carry around the profession bag? If you normally have 16-slut bags, the profession bag HURTS you unless you've got more than 16 slots full in it. If you have that much crap you're carrying around, I refer you back to my "Stop carrying around shit you do not use on a daily basis" rule.
Professions bags are good for two things... getting extra space out of a bank slot, and fast swapping all your crafting mats into your main bags when you need to craft something. They're not something you want to carry around on your daily adventures.
You'll cuss us out when you have dropped a grey item that's worth some gold. Believe me. Most people don't pick up the Unstoppable Force, it's grey, it's also 2.5g. For a wee grey item. It's not because it's grey that it is worth less than say a white item. Hence the auto-drop-on-click do the "cheapest item drop" and not the grey item drop.
noted, but if I am to the point where I am scrounging for space in my bags, that I have items that are worth much more than 2.5 g that I dont want to get rid of, nor do I want to take a trip to the vendor.
edit: and I doubt I would ever curse over anything less than 50g. I am way to casual of a player for that.
