Hunter's are very sensitive to changes in attack speed (due to buffs, procs etc) and sometime need to change their rotations based on that information. It would be awesome to have the current attack speed visible on screen (rather having a list of speeds based on combinations of buffs taped to the monitor or having the character tab open :-).
As it so happens I'd written a small standalone addon, which I entitled Speedometer, to do exactly this for a hunter friend. It simply shows your current ranged attack speed in plain text. Type "/speed" for configuration options; the alpha, color, font face, font outline, font shadow, and scale are configurable. It starts out unlocked; drag it into the desired position and type "/speed lock" to lock it in place. The LibSharedMedia-3.0 library is included to provide font face selection support, but if you're the ultra-minimalist type, Speedometer will happily run without a font face option if you remove the "Libs" subdirectory and don't have LibSharedMedia-3.0 installed. Finally, Speedometer will silently fail to load on non-hunter characters.
