The collapsing is a great idea, unfortunately you can't properly collapse and expand secure frames such as unit frames and action bars in combat. Which is likely where you'd need them.
Actually, you can, within certain limits. User action is required to make it happen (by clicking, pressing a key, or mousing over), and it can only be instantly shown/hidden - no animation or sliding effects.

I see, it's not something that I can easily add to Dock at this point, however, is (a single) SetPoint available also or only show/hide?
I think you'd have to use that secure state stuff, and I've only seen a way to hide/show things. You could fake the sliding though by hiding the entire slider frame (including the handle), and show a copy of the handle in it's other state.
By the way, I've tried most of the cast bars now, and none of them seem to correctly calculate latency. Perhaps that's because it's always changing. For now I'm staying with the default wow cast bar, since plain old tapping seems to get me the fastest cast times.
Also switched my guild to GeM instead of Group Calendar. Frame rates improved, & Group Calendar was losing signups, which GeM does not yet, so far as we can tell. Too bad GeM doesn't have a slightly better design. <grin>
I do not think most of this demo is class-specific. It never surprises me when healers cannot see flame patches on the ground, since half their screen is covered with health bars, and the other half is covered with buttons. Screen real-estate & organization are always big issues.
Any more suggestions for mods that organize UI better?
You might like Tooggle for your toggling needs. I'm thinking of setting up Raid frames, Minimap, meters, actionbars to hide/show by clicking my Numpad.
Well, I am using Quartz as well, but I have seen AzCastBar, and it comes very close. When it comes to ease of configuration and the included flight timer, it probably surpasses Quartz even. Only thing it is missing is the combined timer bar for tradeskilling.

You might want to take into account blizzard's stupidity in spell detail scaling... i have a crap PC so everything is at the minimum :P
Fights like Nightbane are really hard for me as i cannot see the charred earth at all.. just whisps of smoke... i saw it on my friend's PC later and it was a burning deep brown, easy to see spell.
Silly Blizzard.
Back on track, i would love to have a tabbed dock for buffs and quest items :D I hope that it will either be introduced into Dock or you can make it.
Actually even something like Serenity with the bars all merging into one button which expands on clicking would be nice since i don't like sphere mods. They use too much room.
Edit: I'm liking what i am reading about Tooggle. Hopefully it works :D

I could be mistaken, I haven't actually tried it.

Displaying Latency is pretty useless anyway since 2.3, as button mashing is the way to go now to cast spells as fast as possible :P
