I play 5 characters at once. ;P Multiboxing is a unique niche in WoW that could REALLY be serviced by this idea I have.
Okay, so...back in the day CTRA could display (ordered) your raid's shadow resists, for example, or, could display how many of your folks had adequate reagents.
I started a protection paladin and 4 elemental shaman for the dream of one day 5-boxing all of the heroics (or as far as I can go). Well, I'm level 7 now (gotta start somewhere) and I'm CONSTANTLY getting white equipment drops (and I'm hoping soon, greens). However, it's a real pain to check every character in the party to see who needs that leather bracer the most.
So, I'm wondering if you can use the style of the CTRA old stuff (a simple pop-up window, with names and a list of who has what equipped). It would be a HUGE help over inspecting each character every time something drops. This way I could activate this addon (maybe it might be a running tally always open so I can monitor it, or a FuBar plugin I could just roll over to see), see "Clone #3" needs that leather bracer, open trade, auto-accept, boom, done.
Please tell me something like this is possible, and please tell me there is a coder out there kind enough to attempt it. I'm happy to submit design ideas/requests/feature ideas if someone wants to take it on as a project.
There is a MASSIVE multiboxing community that would also love you and love you and love you and love you and love you (for us 5-boxers ;P).
I'll say such an addon is possible to write, but I'll also add that you belong to this niche 0.000001% of the player base that no one is likely to write an addon for. :D
If the multiboxing community is as MASSIVE as you claim it to be (in your last paragraph), at least someone would know how to write addons, considering they already have the know-how to setup specialized boxing equipment and software.
Okay, what I mean by massive is that it's not just the two or three guys you've heard of anymore. It's a growing and thriving community that could use an add-on like this. Thank you for your input.
Can anyone assist? I'd even try to get started learning how to code add-ons but there aren't many resources for a non-coder to get started. Alot of the resources are like "here, guy who knows what classes are and how to structure your thingy majig, look at all these WoW related classes or whatever and use them".
I just boggle my eyes, and come here looking for help.
First of all, I sincerely doubt the community is that MASSIVE. Although, I'm on Zin's server (Magtheridon-US) and we got a shit load of you multi-boxing losers on the Horde. I don't think anyone's going to want to make your lives easier, unless you can think of how this addon might benefit legit players. You might have better luck looking for a multiboxer who can code or, since you guys are so fucking laoded, pay some chump to code it for you.
I addressed my (maybe) overestimating "massive" comment. But it seems you are miseducated. You see, "Blue" has already posted several times that multiboxing is completely EULA-legit.
People do tend to get panties in a bunch when they're beaten by a multiboxer or they get jealous of some of the more extreme setups (to my specific self, I use only 2 PCs and 2 monitors, if that means I'm loaded, then the every day WoW player must be Donald Trump).
I would say thank you for your input "livefastdiarrhea" but your posts exemplify your name too much for me to enjoy them. So to you, I say, move along troll.
Oh, I know what Blizzard has said about you guys. By legit, I meant normal players who play the game the way it was meant to be - the way it was designed to be played.
My post was submitted before my browser was aware of any posts after the original. Anyhow, I was being sincere. You mistake my foul language for hostility. I don't give a shit how you guys spend your money or time.
So you're telling me there would be no use for an addon that would allow a group leader to track who is wearing what, so that when something drops, they can determine who should get it?
There are a lot of guilds that run on a "loot council" or something similar. It would be great for them to quickly have a look over what belts each cloth wearer in the raid has on, and determine who the loot goes to.
Your loot council idea has merit. However, it is also potentially abusable, a player may opt to put on a weaker belt over a better one in the hopes that this gets overlooked so that he gets loot. While this isn't an addon issue (its a psychological human one that exists with or without an addon), I wish you good luck in finding someone willing to write this addon.
I'm just poking my nose in here... The group leader would not know what other items (say a second belt) the group members have in their bags/bank. (Like what Xinhuan noted above, or an upgrade in the bank for the next level.) The group leader may not know (without asking, of course) what stats are more important to the players. We also have the question of spec. And different classes.
You're dealing with 4 elemental shaman you said. A normal 5-man group usually consists of 4-5 different classes, wearing different types of gear, etc. Would this type of mod work in a raid?
It's doable, but with raids, different classes, different armor classes, different specs, different stat desires, etc, it's not worth it, imo. Best to say "who needs it?" or "roll please".
Well, upon further research I downloaded Spyglass (which is an awesome addon) and it will do just fine. It allows for much faster gathering of equipment info and I can always refer back to the last time I "Spyglassed" my alts. I may see about tweaking it for my use, but for now it'll do. Thank you Xinhuan, for an awesome addon. Consider this case closed. =)
some of these people are running 5 accounts...
there's no group discount..
15x5 = $75.00US a month.
75x12 = $900.00US a year spent.
$180.00 a year for 1 account..
Just because you have more money available to spend on computer games, does that mean you should get extra advantages because of it? No.
Put another way.. If all you ever do is group with yourself, are you really getting the most out of this game? or just simply mindlessly slogging thru levels? If that's all you want to do, save yourself 900 bucks a year and go play super mario brothers over and over.
