I think this addon doesn't need that many extra features since the idea behind it is pure gold. I just would like to see it kept alive and wish all the bugs get fixed and for the current options to get the finishing touch (such as being able to changing the alpha of the border and background without changing the text alpha also).
If I click on the chat frame to move or resize it (not in the way that the edit box shows up) I can't move (without mouse) before I press ESC.
Also I've noticed that when someone says a custom emote, e.g. "/me likes pink elephants" the person who didn't doesn't show up; just "likes pink elephants".
And it has been said before that it would be nice to be able to automatically remove the default main chat frame.
It's a fine mod and I wish it could be kept updated :)
Pity bump, this is a great idea even if it dosen't perfectly conform to my tastes.
In addition to all the fixes, some form of tab functionality would be awesome, with the tabs always visible and hilighting whenever there's something new in it's textbox. That would be nice so i can just have one chat window :)

I agree, some sort of tab functionality would be great. I hope some requests get implemented. Especially hiding the main window.
Edit: I'm also having problems using /r. It just doesn't work when I have Dreamchat enabled.
Edit 2: I fixed the /r problem. Apparently, you have to have your whispers in Window 1 or it won't register you have a whisper hence you won't be able to reply via /r. My main problem (along with most people) is the inability to hide Blizzard chatframes permanently.
I never noticed this addon on files.wowace.com, but wow... I just tried it, that's really what I would define Beyond Godlike. Freaking awesome addon, I really hope you'll keep it alive. I really miss a expand downwards function aswell :)
I'm wondering whether you can get the same functionality modifying and otherwise hooking into the default chat frames. I'm going to look into it and maybe start working on it myself. If anyone has more LUA experience that would like to give this a shot then go right ahead.

You certainly can. I've cloned most of DreamChat using default chat frames, and there are only a couple of quirks with my implementation (mostly dealing with the default "tab docking" feature) right now. I'm still working on the last of these issues, but I do plan to get my code up on the SVN once I've ironed out the details and added a config menu.
I am looking forward to this with much excitement. LMK if you want me to look over anything (I have a little experience coding lua, mostly doing hot fixes and such.) Will it be a new version of DreamChat or be under a new name? I'll be looking for it.

It will be under a new name, as the DreamChat project was never officially abandoned and I believe occasionally some work is still done on it. Mine will also have a slightly different look/feel to it due to using default chat frames. It does draw heavily from DreamChat for feature inspiration, though, and will definitely credit the authors of DreamChat for that.
This addons would most definitely be useful, but it's not quite up to a useable state right now. Here's a list of things I've noticed that need addressing before this addon can really be used:
1. A way to hid the main chat frame(!!!)
2. A combat log
3. Make the chat entry box respond to enter and "/"
4. DreamChat doesn't pick up all the messages that WoW generates. Most notable, the loot messages (Person recieves: [LOOT]).
5. The way DC puts "System" and "Emote" before messages without any kind of divider between it and the message is kind of annoying, but not vital like the other 4. Also, some kind of channel name shortening would be nice.
This is a good mod, and I know that I would use it if it were fixed up just a little bit. All I can say is that I hope someone takes over this mod or makes another one similar to it.

There's MiniChat nowadays.
What font is that? I like it.
If this mod does what I think it does and is still under development, I'll be a happy camper.
