Hey, I was browsing around on these forums and saw the thread about the Dream UI that was made by Bant in photoshop. One of the things that really stuck out was the interesting style of the chatboxes that were used, as well as a minimize button.
I would love it for someone to make a mod that looks like it, here is a little workup I made by editing his picture, I hope he doesn't mind.

Minimized:
I haven't found a chat mod that really does something even remotely similar to this. Is it impossible?
The first line of text is shown for collapsed windows, and the titles of collapsed windows tint blue if there are unread messages.
The current concept is to have chat windows arranged into "stacks" of linked windows, sort of like the tab groups in the default UI. So if you expand a window near the bottom of the stack, all windows above it will shift up to accommodate (or down, depending on how your stack is anchored). Other thoughts include having windows that have been inactive for a while fade to 30%-ish opacity until new messages are received.
That looks really great! You could also have the option that the box auto-minimizes if no messages have been recieved in 30 seconds or so. I wouldn't be a fan of them auto-maximising though.
The stacking looks great, just the way I would have expected it - as well as the title of the windows having a tint. Blue is nice although I would have expected a light red or green. Blue I really like so that can be kept :D
I would like to see the arrow's inside the boxes toggle-able as I don't use them on current chat windows. I just the simple mouse scroll along with the shift+scroll for a full scroll.
Just a few questions though, is this going to just 'parse' information from the chat frames or going to replace them? I would also like to know if this would be compatible with Prat or so, as I do like the way the channel names are shortened, as well as name colouring for classes! :)
The minimizing fo the chat window reminds me of Forgotten Chat. I use to use this all thetime when I was a guild officer and was constantly getting whispers.
Hmm, I wonder if adjusting the number of lines displayed per chat window by the volume of people talking would work? A silent channel would be 1 or maybe even 0 lines displayed, while a busy /guild discussion would automatically cause the guildchat frame to expand accordingly.
I was sort of thinking you could do away with the box headers if you included the channel name in each line. and then some kind of option to turn that display off would leave you with a minimal display, boxes would be discernible by the color of the content within... heres an image with some ideas :P
the bottom buttons W and the double arrow...
click the W for a list of player names, clicking on the name would unhide a specific whisper window, like WIM etc. obviously a standard whisper chat box could also be configured.
the double arrow would show/hide all windows completely...and for some reason i wanted to put a highlight texture on it.

Thanks!
I've been looking for an excuse to start ace-ing my addons as well, so it'll be a good opportunity for me to learn how this all works.
I'm on it!
Seems like a viable solution if you ask me.

Oh I like that baby, I put on my robe and wizardhat.

You might want to look at their code to help you out here is the url: http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-2808-1-forgottenchat.html.
Someone has a REALLY good idea other then Bant! :O

Agree, this looks like a really interesting project but if it's oSkin only I'll be giving it a miss (or hacking it until it's not oSkin).
