I completely understand what you mean, Marroc - and I have no idea why anyone would say that this goes against Ace morals or whatnot. I do agree that there might not be much developer interest in this due to the preconceived notions about what Ace mods should be like, but I do feel this works perfectly in harmony with Ace-mindsets...
I was bored, so I made a fictional example of the addon XD (I wish I was Ace-savvy enough to create this personally, as it would be a very nice idea from the modular aspect of it.)
MarrocTimers addon would come with ZERO BARS in the package. The bars would be downloadable modules ala:
Yet none of those track CCs that you don't have targeted or focused.
I am absolutely love tinkering with new mods, configuring mods, etc... and I have to say that Marroc has a point. The issue for me isn't having "one anchor" for bars, but rather right now I'm dealing with so much overlap in mods that it's ridiculous. I have to go through 4-5 mods (the ones listed above + quartz) and disable overlapping functionality.
Now if we look at your average "raider" in WoW, we know that we all need timers on things like trash, cc, debuff times, cooldowns, etc... so what's the problem with the suggestion of one mod that takes care of this, with no overlap and a single point of configuration?
The troubling part is, I deal with 4 Ace mods to do what I need, and it *still* doesn't cover all my castbar/debuff needs. Then after updating I usually have to traverse through numerous configuration panels to see if any new functionality has been added that I may need to enable/disable among the multitude of mods.
It seems there is a huge need for a NECB replacement in the Ace community, almost everyone I know simply defaults to using it because it just *works* well. I think it's bloated and over-featured as well, but I can deal with it if it means I get the information I need.
I only have two "non-Ace" mods, NECB and Trinity. If NECB still has a use for me, doesn't that beg the question of why?
edit - ...and it's *not" for the KILLING SPREE or garbage collection functionality!
